Wouldn't It Be Nice to Test These Out Again Really Soon!?!?!

Postby MrMustang1965 » Mon Oct 18, 2004 11:59 pm

UNIVERSITY PARK – SMU officials are in the process of replacing both goalposts at Ford Stadium. On Sept. 25 the south goalpost was torn down by fans following SMU's 36-13 win over San Jose State that ended a 15-game losing streak.

A goal post from the practice field replaced it before last Saturday's game against Louisiana Tech. The new goalposts will be collapsible and will be taken down following every home game.

I can't wait to see a frenzied group of PonyFans work the hinges and lay those things down after another win.

I remember when the University of Iowa put up collapsible goal posts after students tore them down. It ended up jinxing the team for like 2 years. They never had a reason to tear them down. I am firmly against this decision.

Then again you can't really jinx a team that is as bad as ours. Maybe it will be some kind of anti-jinx or something.

"The new goalposts will be collapsible and will be taken down following every home game."

Maybe the only D-1 team bringing down the posts after every embarrassing loss. Security must be afraid of the 2 dozen SMU students left in the stands after the 4th quarter.

Unfortunately there were only about 4 dozen students left after the first quarter.

With the goalposts being no fun, what should we destroy after our next win? The band enjoyed falling through the bleachers at Rice, maybe the students can start tearing up the seats!

White Helmet and I vote for bringing down a play clock.

Or maybe we could just knock over the pylons around the endzone. That's not too destructive.

Rupperman- Is your avatar icon Peruna showing off the new cheerleader's costume as the new ploy to get fans back to Ford Stadium?

Na, he's showing the size of the beer needed to survive a loss.... I'm getting really tired of this, but I'll stick in there for my Mustang no matter what.... Unless the Miller company can't keep their supply up with my demand.
