IF, we get a Big East Invite

Postby Duke Blue Blood » Tue Oct 11, 2011 7:23 pm

We have no choice but to take it for the money. $12mm is just slightly more than we make now. Not the $20mm TCU is getting, but...

Think of it this way. We are really just renting a nice house, with the right to buy. We move our stuff in, but we never unpack until 2014 when all this is really going to get crazy.

We don't make 5 million let alone 12 million. 12 million is a lot more than we make now.

Uh..... the Conference gets close to $12 million and SMU gets their share of that, but nowhere near $12 Million to each school:

C-USA: $11.3 million per year, $0.9 million per school
MWC: $12 million per year, $1.3 million per school
WAC: $4 million per year, $0.45 million per school
SEC: $17 million per school
Big 10: $22 million per school with expected increases every year
ACC: $12.9 million per school

The Big East currently gets $5 mil per football school from its ESPN contract that expires after the 2013 football season. They turned down an offer of $11 mil/school from ESPN and hope to get $19 mil to $23 mil per school:

Looking at Duke's quote I believe he was talking about per school not per conference. Good info Ponyscott.

5 million per school is a lot better than $900,000 per school any day. :D

And in the Big East we'll get a nice bump in basketball revenue.
