As an undergrad (not at SMU), I worked for Sallie Mae (school servicing and defaults). They may actually be worse than the IRS...
Right now, you can't even make a payment on your student loans. The phone lines have been down all week and the website is not working because "We are currently experiencing high volume on our website." It's almost like they are trying to make you default.
