I don't think anybody ever was against June Jones.

I think maybe June might have rubbed some the wrong way personally, but nobody ever rooted against them.

How long will June be here? I know he has talked about leaving once everything is in place. We are about to be in a BCS conference. How many more years will we get with June? Not that I am worried about his replacement, shouldn't be to hard to find a good coach for an established winning program, just curious on how long he will stay.

I've wondered that plenty of times myself. It all depends on what he wants from this job.

If June simply wants to build a long-forgetten program back up and be well paid for it he can do that and he'll be here another couple of years. I'm fine with that - he's earning his paycheck, and he has the right to leave whenever he wants.

BUT IF JUNE WANTS A SHOT AT A NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP, AND TO GO DOWN AS ANOTHER HOWARD SCHNELLENBERGER he will have that opportunity.

He and SMU have worked together to build a winning team. He has won, been given the resources to grow, gotten TONS of free pub (thanks again, Thad) and the 5* recruits are starting to come now. He can get players here he would have had major problems with at Hawaii.

I hope he stays for another 5 years or so. But June can do what he wants.

And if we want to go all the way to the tippity top, don't forget jtstang. All the while I was throwing you guys off the scent with my embrace c-usa mantra, I was working tirelessly behind the scenes along with Jerry Ford, George W, T. Boone, Mark Cuban, Bo Derek, Mitt Romney, Charo, Alan Alda, Hillary Clinton, and Sir Elton John to make this happen.
I'd kill for a Nobel Peace Prize.

If Printz is going to be as great as some on here say, I can't see him leaving before Printz graduates, so 4-5 years. Exciting times in SMU football!

Do I detect a slight Roger Waters reference here? If so... good one! I'll say this about June... that first year I was one of the few telling you guys it would get better. The end of year two was so fun to see you all going crazy w/ that ass-whipping over Nevada... and now... things should just keep getting better.

As far as how long June stays here... I hope he stays for the long haul. He takes pride in bringing teams back from the dead, but it would seem to me that that would get old after a while. He took Hawaii as far as he could. Now... he has an opportunity to take SMU a lot further. I hope he stays and enjoys the fruits of his labor and who knows... perhaps a BCS National Championship one day. If any coach deserves it, he does.

Well....

I don't know what Tom Mason's plans are, but if the D continues to play as well as it has, he may find himself inheriting a peach of a job.

I totally agree with leopold. I think June, at this stage of his career, is thinking legacy. And probably has one more run left in him especially at a program with the desire and resources of the leadership/decision-makers of SMU ... probably would enjoy developing one more 'great' college QB like Printz ... probably not as motivated to win a national championship, but maybe ... probably happy with putting us on the path, and I think we definitely will be by 2013 ... 2014-2015 I think willl be the timeframe we compete for top 5 and the end of his career ...
