I think in the near future we'll do well and turn some heads. I HOPE WE CAN GET THIS THING ROLLING THIS YEAR! I hope we can get this program to a point where we are mentioned on a few national tv stations and get some exposure and one day get in a bowl game.Hey i'm just as anxious as everyone else to see something positive for SMU and these young men on this team
![]() GO MUSTANGS FIGHT ON TO VICTORY !!!!!!
CFN's rankings are a crock. They put us in the bottom 19 when we handily beat some teams they have ranked in the 90-range for next year.
I know I'll get flammed by Prof X for saying this, but we only graduated 3 senior starters last year (Adami, Munlin and Brown) whereas hopefully we'll be gaining back 3 starters from injury (Carrington, Lee, Muse). At least on paper, it seems hard to believe that we won't be much improved next year. You'd figure that based on graduation rate and W/L record last year, we should conservatively be ranked in the mid-80s. IMHO.
Is it safe to say that SMU fans have suffered more than any others in college football history? Is there a school and group of fans more deserving of a winning season and a bowl? It's hard to imagine any progam that has suffered as much as we have since 1989. Sports Illustrated even did an article about us a couple years ago.
I'm not expecting a winning season in 2005. 4-7, 5-6 will be fine. I'll be happy as long as we continue to show improvement, so that we can look forward to a potential winning season in 2006. Always a Connecticut Yankee, but happy in Texas since January 1986.
