Red/Blue goals

Postby Buddha » Wed Apr 06, 2005 10:58 pm

Here's what I want to see Saturday:

* A clear-cut RB leader (Dorsey?)

* A healthy Reggie Carrington.

* A much better understanding of the offense by the QB, whoever it is. They seemed much more comfortable toward the end of the season, and I want that to continue.

* 5 passes (minimum) to Ryan Kennedy.

* OLBs Wilton McCray and Clayton Cox flying all over the place.

* The fast JUCO DBs: Makinde and Goode.

* Jessie Henderson returning punts.

* Avery Cleveland getting regular time in the LB rotation.

* Power TE Paulius Ritter!

I'm pretty anxious to see Ritter, too. It will be interesting to see if he has any ability, or just the big body.

I'm also looking forward to seeing Reggie Carrington back, going full-speed. Before he got hurt last preseason, he was getting some preseason all-WAC hype (and that was from outside the SMU community). It will be interesting to see how he's playing.

The biggest thing to me, is always the play on both sides of the line of scrimmage. I was a little worried to read the report from last week where we couldn't punch it in from short yardage. We now have big OLs, and they need to hunker down and blow people away.... unless we can chalk up that goal-line stand to much-improved play on the defensive line?

Any truth to the rumor that we'll be experimenting with the 3-4 this year? If so, I'm looking forward to seeing it tomorrow.

Part of me wants to think that yeah, maybe the Ponies are good enough to warrant the Bears scouting their spring game. The other part of me thinks, "...like BU gives a rat's a** what we do in our spring game"

Guy Morriss has enough respect for Coach Bennett that he certainly is interested in what we do in the spring game. And I bet you're right, we might not show everything, because I'd think that some Dallas-based Baylorites might check us out today (unless they're all reading the College Station Morning News and head to A&M for its spring game). After all, if I lived in Waco (and couldn't drive up to see my Ponies), I'd go to the BU game to check them out. Maybe.

Which of these did you see, and which did you not see?
