Postby MrMustang1965 » Wed May 11, 2005 12:07 am

Ratcliffe, Jr., MORELLE KINARD RATCLIFFE, JR. went to be home with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on May 8, 2005, following a lengthy illness at Baylor Hospital. Mr. Ratcliffe was born on June 14, 1924 in Dallas and was a lifelong resident of the city. An avid outdoorsman, he was active in the Boy Scouts in his youth; as an adult, he fulfilled a boyhood dream by working daily at his North Texas ranch. He graduated from Highland Park High School in 1941 and from SMU in 1946 where he earned a bachelor's degree in Business Administration. At SMU he received an "M" award, participated as a cheerleader and served as president of Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity. Soon thereafter, he went to work for Ratcliffe Advertising Agency, which his father had founded in 1926. A long-time member of Highland Park United Methodist Church, Mr. Ratcliffe served on the board and was a popular Sunday School teacher. He was a Life member of the Salesmanship Club and served on its board. Mr. Ratcliffe also served as a leader of his sons' Cub Scout packs and as coach of their YMCA baseball teams. Mr. Ratcliffe was preceded in death by his parents, Morelle Kinard Ratcliffe, Sr. and Helen Wright Ratcliffe of Dallas. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Beverly "Becky" DeShong Ratcliffe of Dallas; his sons, Sam and Robert Ratcliffe; and grandchildren, Catherine, Caroline, Ryan and Bryce Ratcliffe, all of Dallas. A memorial service is scheduled for 2PM, Wednesday at Cox Chapel of Highland Park United Methodist Church. Rev. Bill Smith will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Salesmanship Club of Dallas or Baylor University Medical Center.
