I'd say there was about 50 people. I really do like Tubbs and hearing that he's fully aware our previous teams lack of outside shooting. It sounds like 2 of our 5 new recruits can fill it up from outside the 3 point line. He also did give kudos to Michael Dement for sticking it out and contributing to the team in spite of his situation. I thought that was classy on Tubbs part.

For the record, outside of the volleyball recruits, there were about 4 people under 35, of which I'm one.

I think next year if we want a bigger crowd, that it should be held somewhere in Central Austin or even Arboreteum area. I've been to a couple of mixers in the Downtown bars and most were the younger alumi or students. Many of the people I met were from Austin proper and not from Lakeway/Lake Travis. That 30 minute drive at rush hour was a killer. Any reports on the San Antonio or Houston events? By the way, I often drive up to SMU home games alone, meeting friends in Dallas for the games, so if any of you Austin alums want a ride or will drive me, get in touch.

I overheard Copeland talking about renting buses to bring people to the games from Austin. Maybe they can get one from San antonio and pick the Ausitn people up.

This thread brought to mind something that I've thought needs to happen for awhile. If you look on the Mustang Club/Morgan Campaign map, the state is divided into regions. It would be nice if the Mustang Club could let us know who is where in those regions...I know I would like to organize and unify the Valley Ponies...all ten of 'em, or however many there are...each of those regions should have 'chapters.' I have to say, when SMU played down on S. Padre Island in 2003, I expected to see a throng of fans at the 'SMU' hotel and at the game. As it turned out, behind the Pony bench there were myself, my wife, and my then 7-month old son. Period. Imagine that crap I took from my LSU-alum wife. Hell, at the women's Final Four in Indy we stayed at Baylor's hotel and there were more than three LSU fans. At the same S. Padre tournament next year, Illinois will be on the island. How many people do you think they'll have there? My guess is more than three. Organize the regions like they're divided on the map. Plan watching parties. Expand the audience base. Whatever it takes.
