We all saw reasons for concern last night. But I wanted to say that I was particularly impressed by the defensive line. Lute Croy and Allan Adami were all over the place, and it seemed like every time the SMU defense made a tackle, those two (and Vic Viloria) got up off the bottom of the pile. Anyone know the defensive numbers?
Melvin Williams also seemed to generate some rush from his defensive end spot, but I agree with whoever wrote that they were overmatched against the run.

It's too bad Croy's a senior. He and Adami seemed to work very well together inside. They were tremendous. Not bad for Adami, considering it was his first start (I think).

Hey, I liked Melvin Williams Saturday. He didn't get run over (much) and he chased on every play. He was in on the play on both sidelines. He has a non-stop motor.
"It's 106 miles to Chicago, we've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses." ... "Hit it."

He does have a non-stop motor, but he still needs to add another 30 pounds, if his frame can hold that much weight. But remember, he was only 205 when he got to SMU, so he might be as big as he'll ever get.

In his first start as a Mustang, Allan Adami led the team in tackles with 13.

What a great way to start - you must be very proud, 2mustangsons (I assume your one of his parents.)
Do you know how many Viloria had? He and Allan seemed to be all over the place.

In regard to this note, I was wondering how many of the new kids in the program are being redshirted this year? I know at KSU that made the difference in the beginning of the turnaround, the commitment to redshirt virtually every HS recruit, and about 1/2 of the JCs. It allowed KSU to recruit quick but slightly smaller, then counter it over time.
Also, I know you have a new stadium and a commitment to facilities at SMU. What is the condition of the weightroom and strength and conditioning program there? If there is commitment there (which I would guess there would be), it will really pay off with some kids over time.
Good Luck,
Sam S.

The weightroom and conditioning facilities at SMU are as nice as anywhere in the country. They're not as big as, say, Nebraska or Arizona State (which are known for having massive weightrooms), but the quality of equipment and the training and rehab spaces at SMU are second to none.

It is about time we get another Adami in the picture to start bringing some attitude back to this football team. I thought Adami played outstanding. I think that we need to rotate our defensive ends and see what the other guys are made of on the outside.

With all due respect to Keylon Kincaed, who ran really hard, I think Adami was the player of the game. He was sensational, especially considering it was his first start. He's going to be a great DT for us before he's through.
