I completely agree...however I also hope TCU never spends that much on a football stadium.

I would say TCU got the better value for their money spent.

TCU didn't have to retrofit their stadium for earthquakes because the Hayward Fault bisects the stadium. Therein lies the difference

TCU was also able to demo the old parts of their stadium and build new and the reason they were able to do so is because TCU did not have a bunch of fruits and nuts and other assorted dingbats camped out in trees going crazy because the stadium was going to be imploded and rebuilt

it is always cheaper to implode and rebuild stadiums and things like that than it is to refurbish them and especially when you talk about seismic refurbishment in a stadium built long before any type of seismic standards were in place and a stadium that already is showing multiple major issues from ground movements of all types

that is the reason that Stanford blew up their own stadium and built new because the old one was too big and more importantly they would have spent huge money to renovate an old stadium that was bigger than they really need

same with OkState and their stadium.....when it was all said and done T.Bone said it would have been much cheaper to blow it up and start over fresh

and I am not sure what that professor is talking about with UT because the UT Athletics department turns a profit and the last few years has turned a major profit and they have 4-5 guys that the AD can call at any one time that will right checks in the high 7 low to mid 8 figures when things need to get done

and while UM was off to a slow start I am pretty sure now that fans have seen the results of the renovations and the team is back to at least winning some decent games they are paying for their stadium just fine as well

and UT has just started a 60 million or so dollar renovation of the Bellmont part of DKRTMSJJF as well for non-football related things and I believe it is actually closer to 90 million because they decided to combine two different projects into one to get it all done at one time and save some cash in the long run......so UT Athletics is not hurting for cash last I checked

We had a meeting up there several years ago & they were telling us that because they have protests literally every day, we would need to take that in consideration of our hours on site for our final proposal. It's a bizarre place. Don't forget, Ber-zerkley has a nuclear free zone that stretches up into space! LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
