Petrino is a great offensive coach. His problems are two fold: he doesn't recruit and he's got HUGE character problems. Arkansas will be recovering from the lack of talent he left on the defensive side of the ball for a few more years.
He's a zero sum guy, but he'll win games before he leaves. And the way he leaves will probably be entertaining to everyone other than the fans of the school he's leaving/screwing over.

From what I observed, Petrino did well recruiting and his D's were plenty good.

While we're at it let's get Nick Saban to be our defensive coordinator.

UofA team rankings while BP was around: '08 - #36 '09 - #16 '10 - #49 '11 - #24 '12 - #34
His recruiting wasn't exactly commensurate with double digit win seasons.

I'm good with that. Let's throw out $50 mil per year to attract an all-star coaching staff.

If he is interested in the SMU job, assuming there is an opening, get him. He will be here only a couple of years but that is nothing SMU can control.

There is no opening, and here's hoping there isn't one.

Jones will most likely leave on his own in a year or two. He has spoken openly about wanting to retire soon. No problem with speculation on replacement whether you like him or not.

True. I like him and hope he doesn't leave. That's all.
