ACC and AAC in Charlotte's Belk Bowl

Postby Water Pony » Fri Jul 19, 2013 10:05 am

Nice:

The Belk Bowl features a matchup of the Atlantic Coast Conference and the American Athletic Conference, formerly known as the Big East.

Glad that this bowl is in the mix. Another tangible reason why the AAC is a much better place for us than CUSA or the MWC. The bowl matchups are so much better.
Back off Warchild seriously.

It is not in the mix going forward, it is for THIS YEAR ONLY.

After that, it will go the SEC vs ACC for 2014 and beyond.

I repeat , this is NOT an AAC bowl after this year.

Reading the article it seems that the ACC/SEC match-up isn't a done deal either. They are still talking about it.
When will I start feeling stimulated??

Well, it is a done deal that AAC is out of it. They did not renew with the legacy Big East, and that included much better teams than what the AAC has now.

the ACC B10 et al will not field enough bowl eligible teams when they all go to a 9 game conf sch. it's not possible, esp with B10 divesting of Div1aa opponents.

Almost makes me want to suggest the AAC drops this year as well--let them (Belk Bowl) scramble to find another matchup this year--almost...

Then we might be the ones scrambling. We should not cut off our nose to spite our face. This gives the AAC one year to find another bowl (which is revenue for the league) to replace it with.

SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

We need to realize that the ACC is not the AAC's friend. They can only succeed if they ensure we will never be considered equals.
