Who cares? Did all of you Puritans roast them over the coals as well? They're college students. As long as, like I said, they're not hitting women or driving drunk or doing something serious, and it's not affecting their on field performance, then what's the big deal?

I blame all of this more on ESPN morphing into TMZ in recent years than Manziel's behavior. The headline on the sidebar of SportsCenter this morning was "Manziel's Wild Weekend." Really? He got kicked out of a fraternity party at a rival college. Is that really "wild?"

seriously, espn has become a joke. I try to stick to nfl network and mlb network where I'm free of johnny manziel going out in austin and tim tebow continuing to be a backup qb.

Let's put things in perspective. He has done nothing that 95% of all other college students haven't done. He doesn't seem to do malicious things, but he really doesn't think about what he does do. Just like every other college kid.

He now lives in a fishbowl and just can't grasp that fact. Going to a party at UT is just not smart. Everyone now has video cameras on their phones. There is evidence of when you do something or put yourself in bad situations. The other people at UT (other than his friends he was visiting) don't know him or have any reason not to publish the videos. You want to spend time with those friends, have them visit you in College Station. Parties might not be as good (don't know about that), but there is less of a chance of it ending up on the Internet. Lastly, CANCEL THE TWITTER ACCOUNT. Nothing good has happened to him or for him with it.

espn hates tamu because they went to the sec leaving ut and espn with a diminished longhorn network. espn has become the ticket. just a bunch of talk without telling the truth.

btw every smu fan would love to have johnny football at smu.

I would love to have a Heisman winning QB at SMU, but given the choice it would not be Johnny Manziel. RGIII on the other hand would be welcome any day.

Kind of scary that RGIII was originally committed to Houston until Briles took the Baylor job instead. That would've sucked if he'd been a Coog

Why? I think it would have been great because it would have elevated our conference.

They may not have been in the same conference as us anymore...

I did not know Manziel's family was rich. That means the school nor the NCAA has control over him. Normally they have leverage to make the poorer athletes behave better by threatening their future NFL careers or NCAA eligibility. Manziel has enough money where he does need either. Kind of interesting.

His dad is paranoid. I would think he would be steering him toward compliance with aTm's guidance.

Here's Johnny: Recapping Texas A&M QB Manziel's wild off-season

Johnny Manziel is living the truest Jekyll and Hyde story in modern history and that the discourse between the Manziel family and Texas A&M University has never been greater, according to a lengthy report by Wright Thompson on ESPN.com.

The story first discusses Johnny's temper.

"I don't enjoy playing golf with him because I don't want to see that temper," Manziel's father, Paul, tells Thompson. "I honestly do not. I cringe when he wants to play golf. I don't want to do it, but I know I have to do it. Because he still needs love. He still needs guidance. He still needs to see he's wrong -- and how to control his temper. And if I give up on him, who's gonna take over? The school sure the hell isn't gonna do it."

That is just the beginning of descriptions of split between A&M and the Manziel family. Manziel gets angry, first on the golf course tossing clubs then over a parking ticket incident that led to Manziel tweeting he wanted to leave College Station.

"They know where Johnny lives," Paul says of the College Station Police. "They take him home after the games. They know whose car it is. They are harassing him."

Also Manziel's mother, Michelle, reveals her fear of Johnny traveling to Toronto for advice from rap artist Drake. She also remembers the look on Johnny's face following the Alabama game in a moment she says signaled that change was affecting her son.

Paul tells the story of having to wrestle with Texas A&M to get the family's copy of the Heisman Trophy, accusing the school of using it for their own benefit. Also discussed is A&M's huge earnings, coach Kevin Sumlin's huge earnings and Johnny's zero income for what he has brought to everyone else.

"It's starting to get under our skin," Paul says. "They're so selfish."

ESPN reports Manziel has seen an alcohol counselor and a therapist to control drinking and anger problems. In one particular moment Paul does not receive a text back from an A&M official and responds in anger.

"In the cart, Paul checks his phone, hoping he's got a text message back from an athletic department official," Thompson writes. "He'd written: 'Everything ok with Johnny? Said he had a meeting with you and Sumlin.' Nobody got back to him, and now he fires off a sarcastic bow shot: 'Never mind. Don't really care. Sorry to bother you.'

"'[deleted],' Paul mutters under his breath as he presses send."

Though there are stories of Manziel snapping at a family member, the story also shows the Johnathan Manziel side of Johnny Football. But in one of the most concerning quotes of the story, Paul reveals that he is worried what could one day happen if Manziel doesn't soon grow up and mature.

"Yeah," Paul says one evening, driving in his car, "it could come unraveled. And when it does, it's gonna be bad. Real bad."

"He imagines a late-night call, and the cable news ticker, and the next morning's headlines," Thompson writes.

"It's one night away from the phone ringing," Paul says, "and he's in jail. And you know what he's gonna say? 'It's better than all the pressure I've been under. This is better than that.'"

Thompson writes: "Both his parents believe he won't return for another season in College Station, and until he leaves, they can give love and support and pray that Johnny Football doesn't completely devour Johnathan Manziel."
