If you're inclined to support retailers that show support for SMU, you might want to take a stroll through the Walmart at Timber Creek Crossing (Northwest Highway and Skillman).
The place is decked out in SMU flags, from the mini-car flags to full-size banners. There are SMU signs in the aisles and even pony logo stickers on the floor leading you to the back-to-college section with a huge "Welcome Back SMU Students" sign.
Obviously they're just looking to make some some bucks off returning SMU students and parents, but it's refreshing to see something like this outside of Mockingbird and Hillcrest. This Walmart has always carried a representative selection of SMU gear in its "pro shop" and it looks like it's been re-stocked.
It's still a Walmart, and I know some people have issues with that, but you have to tip your hat to 'em.

I've been there the last two years to purchase a couple of t-shirts. Just a way of saying "thanks" - since there are so very few retailers that carry our stuff. The t-shirts aren't that great, but it's something to wear to walk the dog or work in the yard. I'll go by/buy this weekend. We gotta support the people that support SMU - Wal-Mart included. Thanks for the info.

I also remember last year the Academy on 75 and Forrest had some nice Mustang gear.

Yes, they did. I hope they still do.
And Lids on the second floor of Northpark has a wide variety of SMU caps. They've got everything from the classic '47 Brand to the crazy flat brim designs the kids like these days.
I like buying SMU stuff from these "outside" retailers rather than the official SMU Bookstore. Everything at the SMU Bookstore seems to be significantly marked up (I guess because of proximity and the contract with Barnes and Noble).
But the Bookstore is always going to be there, and it's always going to sell a lot of stuff to campus visitors. When an outside retailer sticks its neck out to stock SMU items, they need to get some SMU dollars in return.

I just bought a pair of shorts from that wal mart, and a shirt from the academy.

Stopped by and picked up a t-shirt. SMU flags at both entrances and at every check-out lane.

As for LIDS, what's the '47 brand. Went on line & it's the current mustang logo.
BRING BACK THE GLORY DAYS OF SMU FOOTBALL!!!
For some strange reason, one of the few universities that REFUSE to use their school colors: Harvard Crimson & Yale Blue.

The Tom Thumb in Highland Park Village has some good looking SMU hats. I think they were 10.00 bucks. I tried to post a picture about a month ago but was unable to get it to postup. Chalk that up to my being tech illiterate. Stilll, glad to see SMU out and about.

I rarely find what I want at Barnes & Nobel etc-for one thing apparently they don't sell white T-Shirts any more. There is one site on the internet that allows you to customize the color and logos you want on your T-Shirt and many other types of garments. Not a bad selection. About 7 colors you can choose from including Black for all those "cool dudes", about 23 separate SMU logos (no phony Pony) that can be set onto any color or type of garment (T-shirts, Sweats, Long Sleave/Short Sleave etc) and sizes up to 6XL. They are definitely on to something with the customization. http://www.prepsportswear.com/
