I did mention it cause i actually didn't witness it. I was not on the travel squad that week. But the 1976 game in Lubbock has to be a consideration. I didn't witness it but I saw the game film. THe game was delayed almost two hours due to snow. Once it started the snow continued. In the game film one can't tell were the yard markers are, the sidelines are or anything related to the field. We were in white pants and jerseys and it is hard to see our players in the game film cause the field is solid white.
In 1980, we traveled to Lubbock without winter gear. The game time temp was around freezing. The day before the game, we had no winter cloths and our walk though was miserable because of the cold. The night before the equipment staff had hit every store in the Lubbock area trying to get us enough warm gear for the game. They failed cause thin nylon undershirts just didn't cut it in that weather. By the 4Th quarter it was a driving snow storm. I was more cold in that game than any game up to then. It was so cold I wanted to be on the field and playing just to warm up. It is sad to admit I wanted to play just to warm up and not to compete.
The storm was such that our chartered flight was delayed a couple of hours due to weather. It was the worse weather I played in overall (1980). A close second was the next week against Arkyland. It was in Texas Stadium. The fans were OK but the field was exposed to near freezing rain. The first time I hit the turf took my breath away cause it was so cold.
Fans were not subject to the wet weather but the players had to adjust to the cold that day.
