UNT has a beer tent in the corner of the end zone w/ food, usually for boosters and alumni- much like we do in the skyboxes except they have a tent in the corner of the end zone

Good point Pony Snob- UNT has been to 4 straight bowl games, the Sun Belt is a weak conference but we have not been playing world beaters either over the past few years in the WAC- our record is as bad in the WAC as it was in the SWC and there is no excuse for that considering the much weaker competition

FIRE COPELAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think Georgetown sells beer at basketball games at the MCI Center. CUSA may permit it. UCF, Houston, Tulane and Memphis certainly would like that opportunity. We couldn't sell it at SMU games since UP is dry. Marshall is in WVa. which doesn't allow beer sales unless its 3.2.

I recall there being mixed drink concessions at UNLV when we played them there.

Actually, I believe that West Virginia limits beer to less than 6%, like where I live. What a stupid law.

Jeez, when I went to Nawlins with the Mustang Club a few years back for the Tulane game, I was drinking gin and tonics all game long from the vendor in the concourse at the Superdome.

Wrong.

Though UP is dry, that can be bypassed by what is called "free membership" which is the technique used by restaurants such as Chili's and Olive Garden to bypass that law in dry towns. What happens is they get you to sign this card, then they give you a stub of it, and as long as you have the card, you can buy alcohol.

Communities cannot regulate this as Texas law sees such a thing as a "club," which allows them to bypass restrictions. This law was put into place so that dry towns could still have elegant country clubs and the sort.

I drove by the UNT stadium on I-35 and saw signs advertising alcoholic beverages on the stadium and around it.

Now...maybe I'm mistaken...but isn't this a violation of NCAA rules? Aren't alcoholic beverages and advertisements for them prohibited in collegiate venues? And isn't the stadium used for high school playoff games, too? Wouldn't this be a violation of UIL rules, as well?

Perhaps MeanGreenGem can shed a little 'lite' on this.

MG61 posted a thread about this thread on GoMeanGreen.com so thought I'd see what's going on over here. It is a slow time for board subjects for ALL of us I suppose, eh?:)

MrMustang1965, there is no alcohol sold inside Fouts Field or on the campus. Now we all know fans bring their brew into the stadium in many different creative ways. There is some loophole that most Texas public universities use that says there can be a designated place on state property for the sale and consumption of alcohol and as one of your other posters on this forum alluded, this is done in the southwest corner of our present football stadium on a very large wooden deck area that $1,000 plus donors mix and mingle pre and post game.

If you were driving thru Denton recently, I guess you saw our new turf being added inside Fouts Field?

While passing through Denton did you by chance glance over to the Radisson Hotel side of I35-E to what used to be the NT Golf Course and see the new 200 acre Mean Green Athletic Village under construction? We are most excited as to how that will look when all the different various sports venues are finished with a new football stadium as the crown to that entire property located between Interstate 35-E and Interstate 35-W.
