Baylor leaves Big 12?Wonder if these severe penalties on Baylor's Bball program would be the catalyst for the Big 12 to get rid of their only Private School and invite a State school like Arkansas, Houston or UTEP. Baylor has of course earned great respect in Baseball, Women's Bball, and Tennis among other programs. Just wondering about this. No flame intended.
Don't see why Arkansas would leave the $$ of the SEC, but maybe.
And would Houston or UTEP really be an ungrade over Baylor? Or at least enough of an upgrade for the Big XII to jump through all the hurdles it would take to kick Baylor out? "Remember Danny - Two wrongs don't make a right but three rights make a left."
No UT saw they were recruting well, and UT had a man on the Committee so voila, he handicapped them for this season, but didn't want to ban them from conference play since that would have meant one less game's worth of revenue to the Whorns. I have yet to see a case where the UT rep on an infraction of by a conference mate recused himself from participating. No other organization would allow that to happen except the good old NCAA. BTW, Baylor got what it deserved and maybe even got off light. I have yet to see an A&M, Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia or Michigan get what it deserves.
Your logic doesn't make sense here? You say they got what they deserve.. but prior to that say that UT had a man on the Committee which helped handicap them.. since they were recruiting well? Can't have it both ways man.. I'll agree that they got what they deserve.. but any one member on the committee could not sway such servere penalties; that's why there's a committee (several people). And also.. Alabama, Tennessee, UGA and Michigan might all be cheating.. but they didn't have anyone kill a teammate in cold-blood to bring the national spotlight on them. What we obtain too cheap.. we esteem too lightly. It is persistence alone that gives everything its value.
Baylor will leave the Big XII when enough wealthy alumni decide the are so tired of getting stomped week after week that they are willing to fork over the $5-7 million the school gets in revenue sharing as a member of that conference ...in other words, it ain't happening anytime soon. I would agree that a program like UTEP might be a better fit (with Baylor a better fit in CUSA), but it's all about the $$$ and I don't see Baylor giving up their seat at the BCS table without a fight. As for Houston, they were right there with the SWC private school castoffs and the truth is that none of us carry any weight because of our historically poor fan support. UTEP is clearly a cut above the rest of us in that regard.
UT would never let UTEP in the Big 12. If UTEP ever beat them at something, they would be the embarrased little bovine hineys of the nation. Although they haven't played too often, UTEP has actually beaten them in basketball once or twice. Although UTEP football has made a recent upturn, they seem to get killed against any other Big 12 school.
No way Baylor ever leaves the Big12 voluntarily. No matter how upset the alumni get over their weekly poundings in the Big 12, they don't seem to object to the checks they get at the end of the year from the UTs and OUs and the other schools that repeatedly make it to big-money bowl games and the NCAA Tournament in hoops. And if Dave Bliss's act didn't get them kicked out, I can't imagine what would.
Baylor fans aren't too upset these days...out of the 4 biggest NCAA sports, football, men's hoops, women's hoops, and baseball, BU won a National Championship in one and was essentially Final Four in another.
Basketball definitely got slapped this week, but the fans are optimistic after the way Drew has recruited. Football is still has miles to go, but we'll have a better idea of what kind of progress we're making after we play you guys.
I think this is something that Mustang fans are saying about our team, rather than Bears fans are saying about their team!
Even though the Big XII kicked Baylor out for a lack of competitiveness in favor of SMU in Dynasty mode on my EA Sports NCAA Football 2005, I am going to say this is highly unlikely. How No. 23 could rush for 2,000 yards and not win the Heisman in year 4 is beyond me.
why are we even discussing this!!! it ain't happening now or never - plain & simple!!!
this is even ludicrous to remotely consider - next subject! ![]() BRING BACK THE GLORY DAYS OF SMU FOOTBALL!!!
For some strange reason, one of the few universities that REFUSE to use their school colors: Harvard Crimson & Yale Blue.
