What happened to Patterson's life lessons being taught?

Postby Rebel10 » Tue Aug 27, 2013 11:15 am

Looks like Devonte Fields will be in uniform and might even play against LSU.

That quote is often taken out of context. Patterson was asked if he would ever hold a team vote on a suspension or reinstatement, to which he responded he wouldn't because it doesn't teach life lessons. It was a stand-alone question and was not in reference to Les Miles, LSU or Jeremy Hill (LSU's starting running back who was previously arrested for statutory rape on a fourteen y/o, and most recently for simple battery), whom Les Miles held a team vote to reinstate after his most recent transgression.

Fields was suspended for two games by Campus Life, not by Patterson, supposedly for a bottle of alcohol found in his dorm (a suite-style shared with another roommate). Patterson had nothing to do with the suspension and has no control over the situation, as he has maintained all along.

Speculation exists that Fields won his appeal.

I know Patterson catches a lot of flack on here, though I suggest a pretty good read found in Saturday's Star-Telegram:

If Fields is still suspended, he shouldn't be on the sideline during the game. Period. End of discussion.

If Fields won his appeal, I have no problem with him playing.

We'll find out soon if that's the case (perhaps even today). Patterson has been pretty quiet when asked if Fields was still suspended, though this could be strategy.

We'll also find out of Mr. Hill makes the trip to Arlington, as Miles suggested he might (not that it matters to me).

If DeVonte plays I wonder if the TCU spin team will be out in force.

Redemption is one of college footballs lesson's. As in - if you are talented enough physically, there isn't anything you wont be forgiven for if a bunch of money is on the line.

My understanding was that GP had suspended players suit up and warm up in the past to drive home the lesson of how much they were letting their team down.

That was a Frog telling me that though. I still think GP is a punk.

That was the intention for Pachall, though he reversed it.
