This is my all time favorite game. Better than the Cotton Bowl; better than the blistering of A&M; better than the Arkansas tie, etc.

It was a gorgeous day. We were both ranked (us #4), on national TV. I was confident that we could beat them and I remember saying to myself just before kickoff it is never going to get any better than this.

The game was extremely entertaining, and we answered everytime Texas tried to get back in the game. There were probably about 15k Pony fans among the 80K crowd.

What a day. I still watch it occassionally. IMO this game should have been ranked much higher than this.

Wow, what a game. I remember after the game, everyone was on the track around the field dancing to the M Band music and celebrating this big win. Still remember that pass to James. The whole SMU section exploded in yells and cheers. Great game. Great team.
Just send 'da money.

 My first "alumni trip" as a buddy and I took the Mustang Express from Houston to Austin..pre game brunch at the Hyatt, remember hammering down about 4 tequila sunrises while talking with Dr. Sheilds...team was at hotel..VERY cool pre game atmosphere. Game was GREAT!!, at halftime (sorry Mustang band...), we partied in the "camper section" with a bunch of Sigma Chis and the Owens Sausage people...absolutely WILD...same groups were there post game. Missed the bus back to Houston, partied ALL night in Austin, crashed at the Hyatt, flew home on Sunday where a buddy picked us up, he had a cooler full of Bud and the party started again...long live Bobby Leach...Frank Broyles, eat my shorts!!

How our standards have fallen. There was a day when SMU officials, Alumini, and athletes expected the best. There was a day after the Death Penalty when these people talked of getting back there. Now we have officials who make excuses, lament the fact that all we should hope for is being average, among average opponents. Meanwhile TCU, UTAH, and Notre Dame, may struggle at times, but refused to expect any other standard than being competitive with the best. This just makes me sick. I loath what SMU athletics has become.
