Twas the day before CUSA day
And throughout Pony Nation
The Red and the Blue
Were ready for a celebration

We're ready to go
We will not be back
We're leaving those chumps
Behind in the WAC

Trips to Fresno and Boise
Were darn near insane
Instead we can drive
To Memphis, USM and Tulane

A regional conference
Is what we need
CUSA will give SMU
A chance to succeed

So on Ponies, on Tulsa
On UTEP and Rice
On UCF and Marshall
Our new league will be nice

Too bad the froggies
Decided to bail
The new Mountain West
For them will be jail

Amen, no more Fresno, no more lights out in San Jose, no more Hawaii, no more Nevada, no more Boise. I will kind of miss La. Tech, but CUSA will be much, much finer for us. TCU will regret leaving mark my words.

No team in the NC-USA made it into the top half, though I think UTEP could get there.

by those rankings, not a single bowl worthy team among us. The new CUSA has a long ways to go to earn any respect in the world of I-A football. SMU fans should be thankful the WAC offered us a place to compete when nobody wanted us. We did little to make them glad they invited us. Hopefully we can do better for CUSA, but let's face it...SMU is and has been a doormat for a long, long time. Sure hope we have enough guys on today's roster who are determined to change that. This team has to overachieve if Bennett is going to get any recruiting momentum going. Gotta make people believe we really can win here at SMU...and that if they do, people will actually show them some appreciation by coming out to watch the games!!!
