Holding Call was the dagger

Postby LakeHighlandsPony » Sat Aug 31, 2013 12:53 am

I saw a very close game that was over when the holding call negated a TD followed by a missed FG. Cowlishaw at DMN and Foxsports already writing about Tech Blowout.

timing of that call was huge; SMU actually had momentum and instead of going up by 3, we get deflated and find ourselves down 11. Even at 27-16, I thought we might come back and score another TD to lose only 27-23 and I was going to consider that "progress". I was disappointed we went into "fold" mode for the next couple of series

I'd love an explanation of the call. It's the second such call I've seen where either e defender or RB has been called for a hold because of someone bights on a fake?

That one hurt. I also saw a long completion in the first half that I think we didn't capitalize on. There was another one at the end of the game as well where we couldn't get it in the end zone after. Overall, red zone offense and bad penalties killed us. But it's not like we were heavily favored and just crapped the nest. Tech is a solid BIg 12 program. For 3 1/2 quarters we were right there with them. Just need to figure out how to execute better in key situations.

TCU and A&M are going to be brutal.

I had heard some speculation that they announced the wrong # on the hold but doesn't seem like it. The RT is falling down and none of the other linemen are engaged with any TT defenders.

The holding makes me question the integrity of the ref's. it is hard to believe they were that incompetent.

I agree this was the hinge on which the game swung. but even after that the Ponies had opportunities to win this game. The collapse of will at the 8:00 point in the 4th quarter was disturbing,

The DMN article indicated that Prescott Line was called for holding WHILE he was being tackled. How does one do that?

Truly one of the worst penalty calls I've ever seen at a crucial point of the game.
Back off Warchild seriously.

I just did some checking, and found out this particular pool of refs were not Big XII, AAC, C-USA, SEC or MWC refs. They were WWE refs.

Even the commenters were talking about how we looked like we had completely given up.

Thanks June. That's on you, sir.
