Can these guys college or pro really look in the mirror and say they wouldn't tell the doctor what he wanted to hear? Please, I did everything I could to stay on that field. I've had three knee surgeries since graduation. I guess the NCAA should pay for that too.

If that was directed at me please know I was being sarcastic about wanting a bunch of money. I too knew the risks and do not expect any type of pay for my past injuries.

Glad both you guys knew all the risks and were properly informed. Some didn't or were misinformed and may not have the funds to get proper medical health. I am not going to down them so I can wear some badge of honor and call them low life money grubbers. If they need help now and can't get I too hope they get some help.

Mrydel, not directed at you. Nobody forced us to play this game. We did it to get an education. Education=job. Job=take care of yourself. Do you really think that Tenn had less money or an informed staff than we did?

Glad you made enough money not to give a crap about others who many have worked but didn't make enough to take care of those health issues. Especially those that were based on misinformation.

Everyone got money for cigarettes even though you can see 1950's era movies calling them "cancer sticks".

All I know is that some politician will find some way to get some people some money for some reason that is beyond my control but the politician will end up with some of the money and I will end up with higher taxes, probably added on to the price of a ticket. I will most likely be dead before it is finished so those of you bleeding hearts that want to give money to everyone for everything under the sun, please visit my grave (if you can afford to get there) and admit that you were wrong to give away everything for anything when you are being taxed and spent to your own grave.

Not trying to give money to everyone and I am not a bleeding heart liberal. I am just not going to down those that are in this situation. Thanks for that video and article 86, it was enlightening.

Well I did suffer many concussions, and I could very well have some after effects that will cause problems as I continue to age. Some may say I already do. So anyone that wants can send me a check now if that will make you feel better.

But unlike cigarettes (couchem) playing football is not addictive and was not said not to be addictive as they did with cigarettes. I could have quit football after the first time I got hurt and would have suffered no withdrawal whatsoever. As a matter of fact I did have to quit and I did not suffer any withdrawal symptoms. I smoked 3 packs a day for 20 years and today, 21 years after having quit, I still crave the taste of the sweet smoke of death.

I think the lawsuit would help those that currently need it like NFL lawsuit. But I am not going to be a jerk about it and make light of others that currently need help.

Complete side note but may help someone - my mother quit after 30 years of smoking via hypnotism. I thought she was being scammed but threw them away and never touched them again, even living with a smoker.

Started to try that once but tried hypnotism for another reason once before that and they could not get me under so I did not think it would work (although I do cluck like a chicken anytime someone says dandelion). But I have known others that were successful.

I am not making light of it. It is just that anyone could have quit whenever they wished. No one made them continue the game. It was not their profession as it was in the NFL. And where does it end? I believe I have just as much of a claim as anyone else would. Do I get discriminated against because I may have better access to health care? Does someone who got knocked out once get a check, and is it bigger than someone who got knocked out twice? I do not know if you realize the difference in numbers between the NFL and NCAA. And then the high schools and junior highs will be next and as Ponyte said, the game will be over. Maybe people need to stand up and start taking some personal responsibility.

Yes, giving misinformation should carry no responsibility.

Well let's see. As I went back onto the field against Rice in a freshman game after being helped off twice after being knocked out, I valiantly ran back onto the field only to hear my coach say "if you come off again it better be on a stretcher". Well it was not on a stretcher but three players did need to carry me off. Send me a check.

Information changes daily. It is said that 50% of what is in medical books today will be shown to be wrong in 100 years. Why? Because 50% of what was in them 100 years ago has been proven wrong. Maybe we should start bleeding people with concussions.

Misinformation abounds. If it is found that someone purposely put someone's life in danger due to misinformation then by all means take action against that person. But to pay billions of dollars (yes with a B) to people that did not take personal responsibility is just wrong.

And again, from where will the money come. Will you still attend football games if the ticket price is increased by $50 each to pay for the settlement?

I have enjoyed our conversation but must now prepare to leave for Dallas to watch the Mustangs!!

Again, I think the lawsuit is about giving current help not compensating for something that has been taken care of. We might be talking about 2 different things. The players settled with the NFL so the current players could get help now that needed it. The suit was not to compensate being taken off in a field in a stretcher or whatever mocking comment you were trying to make. I don't think anything should be mocked about this situation. Again, current lingering issues is what is being addressed due to misinformation. I hope the players that currently need the help can get it. I will not spew out vitriol or mocking comments towards their situations. I do thank you, 35, and everyone who played.
