There you go...kind of scary that the University does a better job on marketing spirit than the athletic department.

Interesting that the site shows the 'old' uniforms for the football team.

Its also interesting that they make no attempt to use the true blue and red school colors in the website which was forced down our throats a few years ago by 'committe' designed to standardize school traditions. Ron Meyer had it right with the slightly brighter blue before the darker actual school colors were mandated. Who in the hell cares if the shade of blue was a slight bit lighter. Apparently, the main university website doesn't.

And they had the "running mustang" and not that silly looking new thing they call a logo.

The end to the SMU fight song using the old Blood, Sweat, and Tears conclusion is still the best. I wish the Mustang Band would bring it back.

Actually, they DO still play it...I heard it several times during the 2004-05 basketball season during timeouts and when the band plays after the final buzzer.

And, it's not 'Blood, Sweat and Tears'. It's the end of a song called "Get It On" by a band named Chase. They were a brass, string and percussion ensemble...similar in style to Chicago and BS&T. Sadly, Bill Chase - band leader - and 3 members of Chase were killed in a plane crash in 1974.

Here's a link to the lyrics and a complete audio clip of "Get It On" by Chase.

Glad to hear it is still used regardless of the originator. I do hope to hear it at football games this coming season. And I do plan to take you up on that previous beer offer MM65

Yeah, that flash site is maybe 3 years old or so, that explains the old uniforms, etc.

Stallion - agree completely. The athletic dept has to comply with 'official' school colors, yet the official school website is colored in a lighter blue and TAN. Explain that one to me.

MM65 - good job on the Chase reference, most people don't recognize that little riff on the end of the Peruna sequence. Awesome band, sad they only had 2 albums or so before that accident.
From high on the hilltop, in Big D...

ponyte: if you make it to the opening game on Sept. 3 I'll have that beer nice & cold for ya! There'll be plenty of extra brew on hand since we're playing the Baptists from Baylor!
