Very impressive. Both the increase to $1bn (which they don't do unless they are confident they will achieve) and the avg. SAT score of 1302. Below per the SMU site:

SMU will join only 12 other private universities currently seeking goals of $1 billion or more. Among them are Columbia, Duke, Johns Hopkins, Georgetown, the University of Chicago and the University of Southern California. SMU is the first comprehensive university in North Texas to seek that amount.

That is some elite company! We need to put the additional $250mm to good use (faculty pay, scholarships, new center initiatives, etc.)

Great job on the SAT scores. We keep separating ourselves from the rest. Our ceiling is still high though. SMU and Rice - those should be the only 2 private universities top h.s. students look to attend in Texas.
