Coupled with the fact that his team seems poorly coached, his offense doesn't work, and no large adjustments are made game to game or opponent to opponent, he begs criticism.

I think you can make the argument that JJ's demeanor shouldn't mean anything, however if we had an emotional based coach maybe more fans would be into it, because just saying him in his stone cold looking face says to me as a fan, "Hes here to collect, and could careless at the end of his contract if SMU football is shut down. We need a coach that has the do-or-die feel to him to these players (IMO). I think the players would feel they have some form of a "higher-calling" to their position to protect the legacy of our past and to spur us to go above and beyond what an analyst says.
