OTHERS..1980 W v. UT...15 consecutive W's v. TCU...'78 T v. Ohio St...3 straight W's v. Arkansas, post DP...I'm starting to dig deep now...maybe I should stop....Long Live Oscar Roan, and his 20.7 YPC in 1973.

1935 No. 1 SMU/ No. 2 TCU game has to be in top 5. The original Big Shootout. 1949 Cotton Bowl victory over Oregon and Norm Van Broclin has to be in Top 10. LeVias breaking the color barrier in 1966 should definitely be in the Top 10. The greatest single play in SMU history MUST be recognized. 1982 SMU/Tech win in the last :04 on the famous "Throw-Back" play from Blane Smith to Bobby Leach as he scampered untouched 91 yards down the right sideline for the ultimate last second victory to preserve an undefeated season. The other greatest play in SMU history was Bob Finley's 4th down 39 yard bomb to Bobby Wilson in the waning moments of the classic 1935 game sending SMU to the Rose Bowl. Of course, these accomplishment pale in consideration beating Division 1-AA schools in 1989 or Romo throwing TDs against perrennial bottom dweller Vandy(not Tulane) in a 1-10 season. I think the 20-6 victory over UT in Austin in 1980 should be close to Top 10. Not to take anything away from the '63 victory over Navy but UT was No. 2 in the country when we beat them on the road after Meyer's river-boat gambling straight flush by benching a Preseason All-American QB after a 2 straight losses and replacing him with an untested true freshman Lance McIllhenney against the No. 2 team in the country on the road. . The Pony Express was born the moment McIllhenney pitched right and James turned up field through a hole the size of Manhatten.

If you haven't read I'll Tell You One Thing, by Dan Jenkins( the biggest TCU homer ever but a helluva "arthur" and a true fan of the SMU/TCU rivalry) then you should. I had no idea of the national attention given to TCU/SMU game in 35 until I read this book. BTW, he is a complete proponent of Bobby Wilson, "The Corsicana Comet" getting the first ever Heisman that year. Alot of BS politics prevented that, but read the book. It's very good, especially if you've ever read any of his other books.
