JJ Lovers Should Send Thank You Letters to the Temple Coach

If not for that "fake" punt, this would have been a different game.

Not being a constant hater doesn't make one a lover.

and being a constant lover doesn't mean one is rational or competent in evaluating the coaching staff.

"Seal the deal" is not the same as "would have been a different game".

Sending Thank you letters indicates a gift, that they would not have won the game but for the fake punt (which was properly defensed, btw).

As I indicated, we had a 10pt lead, and there was only 2 min left anyway.

Had SMU not fumbled in the game it might have been a true blowout for SMU - like 70 to 10. So whats the point? SMU won and should have won. Dandy Don had that saying for such statements, "If if and and were candy and nuts we would all have a Merry Christmas."

Why just JJ lovers? Shouldn't all SMU fans be happy about the win?

Good question. I would think everyone on the board would be happy with this win.

Not sure I would go that far.

Temple already had burned our D for their undisciplined play (a receiver reverse pass for an 83 yard TD).

Temple knew they were having huge issues stopping our offense. And field position wasn't going to be pinning us deep.

Temple had to take risk and why not take a risk on our D once again playing undisciplined ball?

So what about those who aren't sunshine-y JJ apologists or vitriolic JJ haters? Do we get to just watch the game, support the team and enjoy a win?

Fake punt definitely affected the game.

Exactly...from that point on the stands were alive with screaming fans. Had to help the players get more motivated.
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.
