My 15 passenger van sports a bumper sticker that says simply "The Commitment" in a bold red background and white letters.
That was the title given to the new philosophy for the entire athletic program at SMU as publicized at a Moody Coliseum Rally held around March of this year. I can't remember the date.
Anyway, I was stunned to see that less than 5 months later, Jim Copeland was looking for a new job. That's commitment? The football season hadn't even started, yet.
Here's commitment: 11 days after surgery broke her breast bone to access a malignant tumor in her chest, a recruit's mom watched the complete Red & Blue game from the stands. She even had to drive herself there because her husband was working when the game started.
There is more to the stories behind Luker, Page, Pratt, MacMurtray, Stehpenson, Gilray, and the latest, Bartel than what the coaching staff would have us know. The information I have access to is not mine to disseminate in this forum, but come have a sundae with me at Braum's and we can talk.

Which Braums do you frequent, PPP? The Maddog and I visited the Braums on Preston Road south of Frankford the other week, but I never got around to posting my thoughts in the Burger War thread. The food was great, but the service was awful, I think the lady working the cash register couldnt read her own menu. Loved the Butter Pecan Malt, even if the pecans did get stuck in the straw. Anyway, I never turn down a sundae, just say where and when.

That would be the one in Rowlett. I am getting a little worried about our players, now. I am not even talking about my son, in this case. I want SMU to be successful as much (probably not nearly as much as some) the next guy, but there are limits to what should be done to get there. The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few only has meaning when the few make voluntary sacrifices.

Copeland was looking for a new job? If you mean the Kentucky post, it was my understanding that UK came approached him, not vice versa. Or is there more to it than that? Was he actively out there seeking a new job?

Well, I would appreciate hearing whatever it is you have to say. I think I could find my way to Rowlett, or if you are coming to the SJSU game, swing by my tailgate on the boulevard.
You can email me if you want, [email protected]

The team is struggling. Their overall morale is sad.You make a post that rings of innuendo.." There is more to the stories behind Luker,Page,Pratt,Mac Murtray,Stephenson,Gilray and the latest Bartel than what the coaching staff would have us know." Why should the coaching staff tell us anything thats not our business?? One could surmise from the post that you were unhappy with the system and that there were deep secrets that all could have access to by simply sharing an ice cream in Rowlett. If you had any strong evidence supporting any of the mumerous allegations floating the ether, then you should have published them instead of throwing out irresponsible innuendos. Your latest posts hint that you have had a change of heart??
Hopefully we can keep our posts related to the present, be as factual as possible, avoid unsubstantiated rumours and last and most important, concentrate on supporting the players.

I am all about supporting the players. Please tell me where I have not done that and I will remedy it. I can have opinions about the coach's actions as much as anybody else, and with all due respect, my opinions don't matter much more than yours do.
