False

Nutt was there for exactly one year and went 5-6.

Boise has always been fairly decent at every level they have played. The main reason they had the one awful year before Nutt was their normal head coach had to take a leave of absence while getting cancer treatment.

It always has amazed me how much undeserved credit Houston Nutt gets...

I won't argue but I do not see anything in what you posted that disputes my statement. He took them to the next level.

Well, he is 1 of the only 2 coaches on that list to have a losing record.

In all honesty, he wasn't there long enough to have a track record so he kind of gets a pass... He got his "dream job" the next season when Tommy Tubberville decided that his wife could deal with Oxford, MS grocery stores for another year or two.

Thing is, if Nutt had stayed I don't see Boise State having had the success that they had... he's just not the type of coach that was going to work as hard as it takes at a school like that every year. At SEC schools, he always had a couple years that he "took off"... that doesn't work at a place like Boise (or SMU) where you have to bring your A game 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

The only point I was trying to make was that he took the first step towards getting them into the national spotlight. I do not recall if it was schedule or a signature win but he did something that began their move to the national stage.

I have no great love for Nutt. I do think he is one of the best one or two year coaches around. He is not good at sustaining a program. I do note your total loathing of him rebstang and probably deserved. But he is a good turn around coach.
