He hasn't posted at all since the Houston game except under another anagram alias.

We should build a nice brand new 50,000 seat stadium like everyone else is doing and work on packing it. Don't see what's wrong with that. Houston is doing it, Baylor is doing it, TCU did it. That is the reality of college football in 2013...to compete you need a nice house, ipf and other amenities. If it were up to you we would still play in Ownby and practice outdoors... Negativity is bad for you ECM...

Not to pop-poo your point but none of the teams you mention have a 50,000 seat stadium. And TCU has really struggles to fill it this season. It is important to have quality facilities but I think we are seeing teams realize that size needs to be controlled and that full is better than big. Look at UNT, building a 30000 seater.
Ford is fine.

Why would we expand our current stadium is we can't fill it? Doubling down is not the answer.

Ford is fine for now. When we have an average attendance of at least least 25,000 people then we move. This stadium can be expanded in segments. It has great bones. It puts Vandy's 39,000 seat stadium to shame. Same for Duke's 33,000 or Wake's 31,000 seat stadiums. Right now we have a solid fan base of approximately 16,000 hard core, knock down drag out, will take anything fans. We need to add another 5,000 from alums and BAM! You have it! Too bad June's not willing to go the extra mile to get it done.

I agree with this. Remember the title of my thread is "SMU can pack the house". The stadium looks awesome when it's full and I realize we have expansion capabilities that would make our current stadium work. Filling the horseshoe would bring us up to 45k and if we add an upper deck to the east side we can bump it to 50-52k. As for long term planning, once we reach critical mass which would be in my opinion 28-30k fans per game at regular games, I think we will be ready to expand. I would go with the upper deck first and make the capacity around 40k before we fill the horseshoe though...Sideline seats are awesome!
