Amazing to think where ASU is now, and where they might have been under June..

Didn't ASU's AD get fired after that fiasco??

seem to recall she had a porn star-type name like Lucy Love or something. She was canned right after trying to hire JJ , and that is when Patterson (Now the UT AD) got the job.

Trying to hire June Jones was enough to get their AD fired. Think about that ponyfan June-lovers!

Well Damn.....

I don't think they'll be able to wrap their heads around that, but I wish it would

Lisa Love firing should come as no surprise

"...Under her watch Love saw Arizona State put on two years probation for lack of institutional control, extended the contract of Dirk Koetter only to fire him 11 months later (costing the university some $2.8 million dollars), hired Dennis Erickson -- who failed to bring ASU football out of mediocrity, and apparently hired June Jones to be the new football coach only to have the negative backlash make ASU go in another direction. We could have achieved the same success under Rusty Burns. His offence was statistically better. With a good Dcoord selection the team would be at least as good. Factor in that players luke Sanders and Robinson and Willis were recruited under Bennett/Burns with academic restrictions recruiting would have been better.

What could have been with Willis at QB instead of a true frosh that first year?

Re-phrase: How many wish we had fired him after ASU?

Me! The reason I reset that time-point is that this is when we started a downward trend/June lost his recruiters/we became a June-friend country club

That ended our brief upward trajectory. No doubt about it.

there's no denying that Jones was a "splash" hire at the time. It's just a shame he didn't come in with the same "model" that Larry Brown has employed. Jones had superstar status after what he accomplished at Hawaii, but he failed to combine that status with a recruiting blitz. I think he really underestimated how difficult a job he had at SMU. Now appears he's taken this program as far as he is capable. If he stays, I hope he proves me wrong
