Really nice story on your home page from the Daily Campus. He makes a good point about pracice players versus Gamers. We had a similar situation up here in Washington a few weeks ago. When injuries dictated that the Redskins put rookie QB Patrick Ramsey into the game, he started against Tennessee and shredded the Titans' defense. He's had his ups and downs since then (he's been benched for this weekend's game), but what I liked the most were the comments after the Tennessee game from his Redskins teammates who said they hadn't seen anything like that performance from Ramsey in practice. They said he played way above their expectations in that game, and that his performance gave them great encouragement for his future.

From what I've read here, Richard Bartel made a similar impression on his teammates in SMU's win over Louisiana Tech. Hopefully they can rally around Bartel and run off several wins in a row down the stretch, as a way of building momentum into the 2003 season.

And Brandon, if you're out there: Great story.

The philosophy of those who practice well play in games is valid ONLY if those who play, play well.We have seen through eight games players who have not performed well either on the practice field or at game time. It's probably to far into this season to do much about it since an excuse would be that those who are getting game time now know the system better than one that hasn't played. One would immediately identify Bartel as a counter to that argument. It would be nice to win out the rest of the season but we won't if certain player assignments are not changed. I don't need to repeat my opinion as to what positions those should be.Harris and Moodley will start against Rice. Lets hope for their sake and ours, that they get the constant message Bennett tries to relay to them on the sidelines. GET IN THE GAME!!!! If not play the "gamers".......

We are consistely burned in the secondary with big plays thanks to missed assignments from our safeties. Moodley seems to be trying, he just lacks talent. Him and Rico seem to be the slowest safeties in I-A. Boofie isn't much faster, but at least he can wrap up. Let's hope for some better play in the secondary and for a healthy KG.
