Season Predictions/ "Sock Drawer Predictions"

Postby Dooby » Thu Sep 01, 2005 2:30 pm

OK, lets have them... we'll put them away in the sock drawer and review them later.

As detailed or as sparse as you want. But stand up and be recognized. That means you!

Final season record: 4-7.
Wins: Baylor; Rice; Tulane and ECU.
Eckert makes all 11 starts.
At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

5-6

Ws against Baylor (cake-walk), TCU (at last), ECU (possibly the worst team in the country. Baylor and ECU would be a good matchup), Tulsa (had their one year fling; now back to the backwater of college football) and Tulane (I hate to say it).

Ls to Houston (too much offense), Marshall (too many partial and nonqualifiers to compete with them), A$M (obvious), Rice (can't win that game if we can't stop the option which we can't), UTEP (Price is right) and UAB (I don't know anything about them so I feel they must be better than us).

Could go 3-8 or 8-3 depending on how the o-line does.

Two wins, Tulane, and East Carolina. I really feel like some people are in for a let down vs. Baylor. This is going to be a tough game to win as Baylor sees this as a must win as much as we do. I hope I am wrong, but until we prove otherwise, there is not a lot of reason to be optimistic this year.

Our staff and fans see this as a must win.
Your staff and most of your fans dont. I think this has to do with the fact that your staff doesnt see this as a very winnable game

I do think yall have a 3 win season, maybe 4...
Id say Rice, Tulane, and ECU, then maybe an in-conference upset

Baylor will beat Sanford, Samford, who knows and who cares, (no t after the S) and go on to a glorious 1-10 record. I 'll be pulling for you after we drub you.

If I worked for a newspaper: 4-7
My true pick: 5-6
My pony colored glasses pick: 8-3

If this is for some sort of pool for picking correctly, my official PF.com pick is... 5-6

Somewhere between 3-8 and 8-3.

Ask me after the Baylor game. I don't think anybody really knows what we have, except the coaches, and they ain't telling.
Just send 'da money.

They told you enough when they said the Baylor game wasn't a "Must Win" game. They are preparing you for the loss. After they can say, "No, it wasn't a must-win game. We TOLD you that."

Morriss on the other hand has called the game a "must-win game", because he is confident he can win it. No one says, "We HAVE to win this" unless they are reasonably sure they can win it. See Mack Brown prior to any UT/OU game.

Definite should win: Rice, ECU
Won't win: @A&M, @UAB, UTEP
Open games: Tulane, Baylor, TCU, @Marshall, @Tulsa, @Houston.

My prediction: 5-6. We beat TCU or Baylor, Tulane is going to struggle with travel, and we win one of the road games.

Less than 4 wins would be a disappointment. 8-3 would be quite a stretch, but it is remotely possible. Then again, so is 2-9 ;).

First, they told us how our team looked in practice. Now they tell us what our coaches are thinking. I'm am very impressed with our Baylor friends' psychic knowledge of all things SMU. I hope they know their own team as well as they know ours.

Judge and robo, I hope you keep us so well informed throughout the rest of the SMU season.

How does seeing how your team played in practice require psychic abilities? I'm pretty sure it just requires sight.

How many SMU practices did you attend? How many Baylor practices did you attend? Did you use the Vulcan Mind Meld on our coaches to connect with their feelings of doom? Shouldn't you be publishing scouting reports with your intimate knowledge of each team? You could make a lot of money peddling your gift of analysis.

robo - thanks, I'm looking forward to your continuing reports. See you Sat.

I haven't been to any SMU practices. But I have talked to people that have. And it doesn't take a whole lot of insight to count that of 18 passes thrown in one drill, only 4 were caught. Or that while the linebackers were quick, they seemed really undersized and the offensive line, which is much smaller than Baylor's, got a good push on the d-line.

I have been to many Baylor practices, through the spring and summer. I have also read practice reports of every single day the Bears have been out.
