Do we have any hope?

Postby StudPony » Fri Sep 09, 2005 10:13 pm

Do we have any chance to cover the 15 -16 point spread? I am a removed Pony, but it does not look good. We lose to Baylor at home, they beat Oklahoma in Norman. They kicked us good last year.

Don't get angry Pony Fans. I am loyal. I bet a round of golf and have a lunch wager on the game with a couple of dirty froggies at the office (with the points), but I don't feel so good.

I just hope we can hang.

Hell yes we have a chance to cover the spread. Hell, we have a chance to win. I'll say we do one, but not both.

TCU 31
SMU 23

Frazzled Frogs will weave all over I-30 on their way home, but that's not an assumption of DIU, just a lot of folks lighting cigarettes and biting their fingernails while they drive.

Sorry, but I just got a vibe tonight. We're going to crush SMU. It'll be ugly. I'm talking at least 40 points.

Just a hunch. If I'm wrong, I'll come back on here and admit it. Its just that I think SMU blew their wad (so to speak) against Baylor and lost. That is devastating to a team. With TCU very confident right now, I just see a huge mismatch in attitude.

I dunno. Did anyone give the froggies a chance of beating OU last weekend?

I don't think that was our wad we blew, SMU really made tons of mistakes.

Of course not. Nobody thought it could happen except the Frogs, and to their credit, they went out and did it. So now we just have to go do the same thing.

TCU just had the biggest win of their careers. They have a do or die game on Thursday against Utah. Many papers are talking about that game as though it was the Frogs first game after the OU game. We are an after thought. Keep in mind TT hung 70 on the Froggies secondary last year and Northwestern put up what 48. OU had players open all over the field and their QB's missed them and when they hit them, passes were dropped. I give credit to the Frogs for plugging up the front and daring OU to pass and it worked. If Romo comes out sharp and our receivers do their jobs, I see some hope that we could run with these guys. All we need is a couple of early passing successes to open up our running game. Once they have to honor the pass, TCU's defense will have to prove that it can stop a passing team which it did not do all of last year.

And we could not even score against them last year. Had we played Tech in week 2 of the season, they probably would have put up 70 against us as well. Oklahoma St hung 59 on us as well so clearly our defense was not that good either.

Exactly. We made errors -- mental and physical -- all day, and lost by less than a touchdown. The "sky is falling" mood is baffling, since three years ago, we would have lost to baylor by 30 with that many mistakes. This is an improved team. The young guys are starting to grow up, a process that continues. On paper, TCU is much better, I guess, but they're not untouchable.

the key is the QB position. We may have to go to more of a read option team with Romo in there. But I still think SMU is much better this year at most positions. I'd like to think our defense is improved if we can get them some rest. Problem is that TCU is better at every single offensive skill position on the field. except TE.

TCU 60
SMU 10

TCU's second team will tack on an additional 20 points after a 40 point first half.
What we obtain too cheap.. we esteem too lightly. It is persistence alone that gives everything its value.
