Fans in the stands and bowl bidsESPN tried not to show how empty the stadium was for the game. Bunching the fans on the visitors side helped to make a section that looked good up close. BUT, and it is a BIG butt, what was the official attendance tonight? I don't think we came close to the magic 15K attendance number this time either. Forget about the excuses of playing on Tuesday night or it being Halloween. Bowl people saw how many were there, and all those empty seats is going to require that SMU go 7-5 to get an invitation.

Re: Fans in the stands and bowl bids
It was pretty pathetic. The UAB fans were calling us out on that on their board.
Wait.... uh... them callling us out!?! Seriously, my comment last year was how the heck can the largest school in the state of Alabama (look it up, they are/were larger thatn Alabama and Auburn) have as pathetic of crowd showing as poor ol' SMU,

Most of the stadium was empty as usual, but give the students some credit for the huge turnout tonight. It may have been a Tuesday without the best weather, but the east side of the stadium was electric and the best crowd I have been a part of since TCU last year.
I'm a senior... only two home games left... but I will be making the trip to Houston for the Rice game.
From the Yahoo sports report, our attendance was 13,125.
Were we expecting better than this? GO MUSTANGS!
FIGHT ON!
What do they know? They had us still in the WAC most of last year.
you know who actually showed up tonite in record number-the Hoi-paloi in the sky-boxes. It was packed-guess their busy social calandar was slow on a Tuesday. Why didn't we put green tape on the door and make them sit on the East side?
..the boxes were packed today, no doubt, even in the South endzone the box was full when there was no one else around. It's going to be hard to pack Ford, that is just the reality of the situation. The true fans will come, and thats about it. If you want others to come, SMU has to market hard to schools and churches, which they do.
Were there any people on the West side of the stadium other than the boxes? I thought that ESPN did a fair job of not over exposing the lack of fans. I think it was more obvious to we fans than it would have been to the casual observer.
We often [deleted] about the lack of students but they showed up and were great last night.......most students I’ve seen at a game in a long time.
As for the game, Justin Rogers and Reggie Carrington were all over the field. They are both fun to watch.
I was on the west side, and I couldn't believe how many people around me left well before the game was decided. Who leaves a game when there is less than a field goal between the two teams? I was complaining every time someone got up to leave.
