LeViasHe's going to be on Bob Sturm's TV show on TXCN on Wednesday night at 6:30 p.m.
Ought to be pretty interesting to hear some of his stories. You can even call in and ask him questions too.
Re: LeViasDo you know the 'call-in' number? Please post if you do!!!!! Thanks for the info!

Re: LeViasI plan to tape it, because I'll be away from home that night. Please, PonyFans, call the show and let Jerry know how much we remember him and want him back on the Hilltop. (And you might mention MM65's conversation with Woody Norris, that they plan to honor him. Hopefully, the school already has been in contact with him, to let him know that they plan to offer some long overdue respect for his accomplishments.)
Re: LeViasThe number is 1.877.977.TXCN
It's free, too.
Re: LeViasDo you think he'll tell whether or not SMU is going to honor him sometime next season?
Re: LeViasI wonder if he even knows that plans are in the works?
Re: LeViasGlad to hear the school plans to honor him. Long overdue, to say the least.

Re: LeViasIf Jerry doesn't belong in the ring of honor, then the bar has been set way to high. Jerry was as good as any reciever I have ever had the pleasure to watch. NFL Hall of Fame credentials are not the most important. There are many deserving of the ring including Jerry, Jerry Mays, Hixon, and big Louie.
Re: LeViasDoes he still do anything with SMU?
Re: LeViasSturm asked him if he did anything with SMU, and LeVias responded with a pretty quick "No."
Kind of a shame, because mulitple times during the interview he talked about how education was more important than all else, and that athletics was secondary. He'd be a great guy to have around on campus. Maybe be some sort of liason, or consultant. Kind of like what the Cowboys do with Calvin Hill.
Re: LeViasI didn't realize what a great guy he was until I saw the show. I agree, there should be some effort to re-connect him with his alma mater. He was extremely brave to endure the abuse he received as the first African-American scholarship athlete in the Southwest Conference, and a tribute to "Levi" is long overdue.
When I saw the show, I learned he was far more than a great athlete. He said he received over 90 scholarship offers, and that what impressed him most about Hayden Fry was that he was the only coach who talked only about academics. Here's a man who clearly has his priorities in the proper order. SMU needs to re-establish ties.
Re: LeViasI thought one of Bennett's highest priorities was to reach out to former SMU greats and get them involved with the school and it's football program. Was Levias not invited or is he just not at all interested? Next time a former SWC mate comes to town, would it be appropriate to have a reunion of all-SWC players?
Re: LeViasI saw Jerry on TXCN a couple of weeks ago, and he referred to the SMU-tcu game as "The Church Championship." When did it become the Battle for the Iron Skillet? He made it sound like even back then, the game held some meaning, because of the crosstown rivalry.
Re: LeViasPlans are underway to honor LeVias this season at Ford Stadium, according to the SMU Mktg. Dept.
