Word is one of our recruits, DJ Emerson, who went out of the way to graduate high school early and participated in Spring workouts has transferred on over to U Houston. He definitely hasn't showed up to any summer workouts and apparently he really didn't like SMU so it seems to be pretty valid...

That'll be very dissapointing if true (and I have no reason to doubt you). He had the size and speed. I wonder if he just got homesick?

Well, I saw him several times in the spring, and was underwhelmed. He didn't show any of the advertized speed or quickness we read about. Looks like we dodged one, and got a ship back.

He has SMU's playbook. If he sets foot on the field, someone should send him to injured reserve. Otherwise, I hope the guy is successful; sometimes, it just doesn't work out.

What is it with kids from Houston getting homesick? Who was the OL a couple of years ago who washed out before 2-a-days started?

A look at wouldacouldashoulda Ponies from the last few years would've made a decent recruiting class

Lee Gonzales
the OL mentioned above from near Houston
Boren who went to Tx State then somewhere else
DJ Emerson
Mouton the DT who had a tough time with his grades, fixed them and last I heard went to UHouston (Turner's brother)
...and the other more advertised guys previously mentioned who left, and add to those who had to not return because of injury (Jaymond Cleveland for instance)

The OL you're referring to, I think, is David Allison.
Justin Boren is from Colleyville.

I'm sure all of the information is solid. But for what's its worth, his name is still on the roster according to the web site.

Because he signed a LOI with us, unless he gets a release, he will have to sit out a year at UH. Sorry it didn't work out.

Even with a release he sits a year unless he drops a level.

If CUSA has an intra-conference transfer rule-he has to sit 2 years. SWC and Big 12 had or have them. How about CUSA?

No confirmation yet, but from what I've been told, Emerson has NOT left, and is still on the team.
