Sellout - My A____!!Who in the hell is Bennett saying this thing was sold out Thursday on The Ticket.
What a bunch of BS --- Plenty of $47 tickets available --- and 3,000 + short of a sellout. Come ON ---- SMU, cut your damn prices immediately and keep butts in the seats. After blowing our big debut today --- You won't be able to give the tickets away the rest of the year. I consider me and my group of Alums die hards and we were bailing out in the 3rd and 4th quarters..... I want to throw up....
Those would be the white shirts that we "adopted" as our color to wear this week - which is a great choice, seeing that neither school has white as an official color.
Guess they don't teach you math in law school at tech. I was thinking about 30k or so. Might've been 2k no-shows with it on tv. Anyway we made out like bandits with $50 per end-zone seat. ![]()
Probably pretty close to that early. At one point, the high seats above the north end zone were the only ones with major empty spots. Back away from the ledge, smuhype. This outcome shouldn't be a complete surprise. Tech is a big, talented team. Got a friend who's a sportswriter in west Texas and he thinks it will be Tech's best team in years. Who knows? They're going to run a bunch of teams out of the building, and they'll lose to OU and UT. But they're good, and Harrell is awesome. Beat UNT!
I sit in Section 104, which is on the 50 yard line on the Alumni side. Roy Bailey sits one row in front of me. I thought all of these tickets were sold to SMU alumni since it is on the 50 yard line. However, there were more Tech fans in our section than SMU alums! Most of these Tech fans moved from other seat locations to sit there so they might very well have vacated their seats in the endzone. Evidentally the word has gotten out that there is always space on the 50 yard line as this has happened quite regularly since I have been in this Section since the stadium opened for business. I have a feeling that the tickets are purchased by a lot of alums that support the team by purchasing tickets, but do not attend the games. Therefore it wouldn't surprised me if nearly all the tickets were sold, but many fans chose not to attend. And after watching this abortion, I frankly can't blame them!
That was true back in the Pony Express days. I had season tickets on the 50 at Texas Stadium and was surrounded by opposing fans (different ones each week) at every game.
I wonder what SMU will do with the revenue from today's game. I know it WON'T go towards the football program. I wish SMU would cough up the money and hire a big time coach. Imagine how much fun that would be for the players, alumni, fans, community, etc. Oh well, at least we have teams like Appalachian State to be envious of....
D1 Football, can you even name a big time coach who is without a job now that could coach this team to a bowl?
and would a big time coach even want to come here?
Maybe we could get Appalachian State's coach?
J.T Supporta--I can name a few big time coaches. It's not very difficult to put together a list. But I see that you are pleased with the status quo.
