Will Call / Ticket conundrum

Postby icehawks18 » Tue Sep 04, 2007 10:27 am

Quite nice to miss the entire first quarter waiting in the Will-call line since our ticket folks couldn't get their act together... I got in line at 2:25 and got my tickets at 3:35... nice.

You'd think the athletic department would have figured this one out by now... weren't we expecting a 'sellout'????

the whole ticket office was a disaster!? i bought 2 tickets a week ago, and stood in line for 15 minutes, with only 2 people in front of me. everytime i called up there, they would almost said out of breath, "we're just swamped" swamped for a week and half, to sell 27,000 tickets???????????

Same thing happened to me at an SMU-TCU game at SMU a couple years back. I know TCU has ticket issues from time to time but I've never experienced anything like the SMU fiasco. (I've been to games at Baylor, Texas, LSU and Alabama and have never seen such a circus.) It's certainly not going to bring back the average fan that we (TCU and SMU) both need to attract.

I realize this was a big game and the first game of the season but we ordered two tickets for an important client on Friday August 24th over a week before the game.

The tickets never arrived via mail.

Finally on the Friday before the game the ticket office had to reprint the tickets and we sent one of our drivers to pickup the tickets and take them directly to our client.

The ticket office has been a total cluster-fudge this year. I got charged 3 times for my season tickets!

It's about as organized as the play calling was at the Tech Game.

don't know why there was any problem. half the sold out seats in the end zone were no-shows.

One of the people that came with me to the game bought one of the "last" endzone GA seats. I asked her if she had any trouble at will call, expecting a "No, everything was perfect." Instead, she responded with an astounding "YES!" I thought she was joking. She was a first time visitor to SMU football and came to the game because she loves going to college football games. This is not the way to run a business. Season ticket holders don't get their tickets until 4 days ahead of time. Mailed tickets not being sent/received. Long waits at the will call office hours before the game.

Uh, perhaps you should try showing up a little earlier next time. We went to the ticket office at 1pm and was back on the 'Vard at 1:30. Had plenty of time to chat and drink up. Good fans show up early.

Just thought you should know that Chris Phillips was recently arrested on drug and weapons possession charges.

Link? Proof?

Besides, I thought only Texas recruited "thuggish" players.
