Is it true Bennett is Saving Demyron Martin for TCU again?Just a rumor that I heard recently; and seems to be the only plausible explanation for his recent disappearance act!
He didn't disappear. A lot of us would like to see him get more touches, but it seems they want to mix Martin and Mapps. It's not like he's being held out of the lineup altogether.
Rise up, Mustang Nation!
Go SMU!
No. He didn't play him against Baylor the week before because he didn't think he was ready. Apparently, he fumbled a lot in practice that week and Phil challenged RB coach Clarence James about playing him. But after that, he used him against the Frogs, and we know what happened in that game.
That was two years ago...Bennett has probably already forgotten what happened that day.
What do you mean "again?" Two years ago PB consciously chose not to start DM until TCU. The reason he gave then was because DM had fumbled a couple of times in practice, and he asked the position coach if he had to stake his job on it, would he start DM?
At least that's the reason PB gave when asked why DM wasn't starting all along after the TCU game.
If DeMyron can't run more north and south against TCU, I don't forseee a very productive day. We aren't going to run around any team with any speed on defense
He could have more touches, if the defense wasn't on the field for 84 plays against Tech, and 85 against NTS. That is INSANE!

Average? yes, but I really am interested in seeing how well we can run when we committ ourselves to the run game.
On the topic of our O-Line, I have to agree with Stallion... they are average for a D1 Offensive line, and the TCU defensive line will be a major challenge for them. On the other hand, I think they are a very good Mid major O-Line and adiquate for the current task of getting to a bowl and even the conference championship game.
But the suggestion that Bennet is "Saving" Martin for the TCU game sounds like wild speculation to me. I don't think Bennett is risking ANY possible loss for the sake of a TCU win. If he felt that playing Martin more would have improved his chances against Tech or NTCC, Martin would have played more. I hate to say it, but it sounds like wishful thinking of people who know how good TCU's defence can be. -CoS
Martin cannot do delayed handoffs or run to the sideline against TCU, they are too fast. Can we please put in some I formations where Martin has a blocking back in short yardage situations. Put V. Chase in as a blocking back.
