Did Navy ever give us permission?Did anyone see reports today that Navy had given us permission to speak directly with Paul Johnson? How could Paul Johnson be on that plane if we never even got permission to talk with him?....Or do we not need permission? C-ya @ Milos!
I asked this question, too. I can't find any such rule on the NCAA compliance website. I am inclined to believe there is no such rule at all.
Not so much a rule as an understanding among athletic directors that this is how things are done. The quote from the LSU athletic director when Osborne was flying down to interview Pelini was "Are you kidding me?" "Well, I guess that isn't absolutely necessary to talk to an assistant."
Although, this could be something that is written into the coaches' contracts....not sure about that. Les Miles had the Michigan buyout clause in his, but I assume he was allowed to speak with them. And they did ask permission--and then got hosed.
I am a lawyer. I don't know about Stallion or JT, but I actually won an adversary proceeding on tortious interference with contract in BK court. It is not tortious interference with contract to induce a party to exercise his rights under a contract. If the contract has a buyout in it, there is no tortious interference in a 3rd party discussing with one party the exercising of that right.
federal open records act at the same thing as state law. Doubt you can get a copy.
Don't think it's been made public since no one seems to know the actual salary figures. Different numbers have been thrown around as speculation. You would have to file a Freedom of Information Act request and might be able to get it since it is a public institution, but that seems going a bit too far.
There are open records acts for state records; however, SMU is a private institution. Therefore, one could not get Houston Nutt's cell phone records if SMU paid his cell phone bill. Taxpayers are not paying the bill, therefore, they do not have a right to know.

I just read the termination provisions in Saban's, Stoops' and Meyer's. I see nothing in Saban or Meyer's that makes me think SMU would be liable for tortious intereference since either party can terminate the k without cause. Stoops is a little mroe ambiguous.
That site says Navy's k not available to the public.
