Anyone have any insights from today?

Postby GeorgiaMustang » Tue Mar 04, 2008 9:25 pm

Does anyone know how practice went today? Although it's early, did anyone make themselves known? How'd the QB's throw the ball?

I was by the practice field just as it ended. A number of on-lookers commented that Logan Turner got most of the snaps and looked very sharp. Thows a hard, tight accurate ball.

Mostly just drills. What I found interesting were my fellow spectators. Randy Allen, HC of Highland Park, the HP "new walk on" qb, four coaches from Bowling Green, and a number of former players, who specifically were told to tell other ex-players that they were welcome to attend practices.
The grass looked better than in years, and despite the rain and snow was very firm.
I believe the football coordinator said that there were five student athletes not participating in spring drills, not just the two we are aware of. I am not sure who he was referring to or the exact number. I could be mistaken. He did say he had just checked "study hall" and all were presently studying during the workout, including JW.

Bowling Green guys were there? That's pretty interesting. I guess it's a sign of respect for coach Jones' offensive prowess.

Why would coaches from Bowling Green be there? Very odd.

One of the staff said that they had been briefed by our coaches in the morning and attended opening drills this afternoon. I haven't any idea why they were invited, only one was actually taking notes. We don't play them, so maybe we were just doing someone a favor.
I honestly thought at first that they were our coaches that at one time were at Oklahoma State, they all had on orange and black outfits

I was also told that there were 5 players suspended because of grades includes JW. They all go to study hall during spring practice.

It's a very common practice for coaches from one program to visit another, especially if they are changing offenses or want to learn how to run their current systems more efficiently.

Bowling Green is probably doing something with its spread or going to a spread so my guess is the offensive coaches are here for a few days to learn how its taught and developed and will bring back what they learn to their programs.

I can remember where UNT coach Todd Dodge when he was at Carroll, could, visited Middle Tennessee St. to learn things about their spread.

It is a customary practice for coaching staffs to visit other schools during the Spring. Look for coaches from two prominent programs to be on the practice fields in the days to come.

Another sign that we are emerging.

That makes more sense. Thanks.

God knows Bowling Green needs to look at something. That bowl game loss to Tulsa was embarassing for the MAC (except CMU).
