The SMU Bookstore has had the Riddell mini-helmets for sale for several weeks now. I figured it would be the circa 2002 model since they busted those out. All of the CUSA helmets look pretty good except Rice - owl wings looked the best - it's kinda hard to get fired up about that "R" - ECU could use something PeeDee related, but they're still not that bad.

Those will be the new helmets.

I've heard that UAB may be changing their design and unveiling it soon. Something a bit similar to LSU. A block UAB on the top and the smaller blazer head underneath that.

I think they want to get the letters UAB more play.

The white helmet is a lot better. The blue helmet without the outline on the logo ... ugh, I promised myself I'd never think about that season again.

As for Rice, Bergermeister, I like the 1976 with the plain script "Rice" the best.

Other than our helmets, the best historical helmet in CUSA was Memphis' 1981-1985: Navy with silver script "Tigers" and silver and white stripe.

I agree that the script Rice helmet is by far their best looking in a crowd of mostly awful. The curent stencil R is lame. As for Memphis, I think their script helmet certainly looks better than anything else they have ever done but it looks too much like baseball script.

My ranking of helmets in C-USA are:

3) UH
4) Marshall
5) UCF
6) Tulsa

The rest all need serious help!

I take it you rank our white helmet #1 not our blue helmet.

Going back to the white helmet is the best thing we have done since hiring June Jones.
