McCoy isn't going anywhere. He has a chance to be the biggest QB legend in the town of the Cows in the last what ... 50 years? If he goes pro, he'll be the next Major Applewhite off the field — camp and cut.

He's already the next Applewhite on the field, and he might be the next Applewhite as a coach, if he chooses to go into that profession, but he does NOT want to emulate Applewhite's playing career. I'm not sure it will be much better next year, but he'll own Austin if he stays another year, and he'd be an idiot if he gave that up to go be mediocre in a training camp for a couple of months.

You're absolutely right about that. But the difference is that Vince Young is 6'6" and freakishly fast, and therefore was expected to deliver superhuman results once in a while. McCoy runs better than many expected when he arrived in Austin, but he's nowhere near the sprinter Young was/is (maybe I compared him to the wrong UT quarterback — could be that his wheels will get him a job as an overpaid backup, like Young? )

But you're absolutely right, ep18.

McCoy is one of my favorite players-that being said I have a feeling he may be disappointed in what the Pro Scouts tell him. The guy is the classic overchiever though and I really think he has earned the Heisman with near perfect play.

Looks like a shoe-in that at least 3 and maybe 4 (Chase Daniel) Big 12 QBs will be at the Heisman Award ceremony. Joining Tebow I would guess.

he's only 66 yards away from breaking VYs single season all purpose offensive yard record.

if he wins a NC then he'll surpass VY and he'll most likely have a better pro career too

Despite my incredible dislike for UT, I am a fan of colt McCoy. That being said, will someone please state why they think colt will do anything at the next level? He's not a big kid, his tools are probably subpar compared to the vast majority of rostered and practice squad NFL qbs. Again, I like the guy a lot. But I'm admittedly a little shocked about NFL talk for colt.

And colt having a better career than vy? assuming the overgrown man child gets back on the field, I don't think there's a comparison between the pro skills of vy and colt.

I'd be shocked if he was drafted in the first 3 rounds. I would think 5-6th Round is more likely

I still think you're being a tad generous. But let's assume he grades well, somehow, and goes top 6 rounds. He hasn't been able to stay healthy during his career. He's not brody croyle-esque in his injuries, but they have happened. And croyle has started NFL games. He's just not a big guy...he's worked his butt off to get as big as he has, but you can't overcome genetics with regards to people running into your body at high speeds.

I was trying to be charitable with that 5-6 round prediction-I agree with you I don't see his game projecting that well to the NFL.

he has potential to have a decent career in the NFL but he needs to stay for another year at UT. he isnt a traditional pocket passer and his mechanics arent the best.

the things he did in last nights game were amazing but up against an NFL D he would have thrown pics on the plays he made scrambles on and found receivers. plus he holds the ball a little to long waiting for someone to get open

He's not little and he's fast-and he's got the intangibles that make a very good qb. That said I think he'll have a very successful pro career.
