Big game of interest tonight: Marshall at UCF on ESPN

Postby CalallenStang » Sun Nov 01, 2009 2:17 pm

Not only is it a good chance to get a feel of Marshall, but this game also has some implications on the bowl picture.

Marshall is currently 5-3, so a win would put them at 6 wins with Southern Miss, SMU, and UTEP remaining.

UCF is currently 4-3, so a win would put them at 5 wins with Texas, Houston, Tulane, and UAB remaining.

Yeah, I have a tough time figuring out who we want to win this one. I am thinking UCF, because they have two likely losses on their schedule. And that UAB game won't be easy.

Marshall on the other hand has a game in the hand plus three winnable games.

I just don't know.

Marshall win provides the best path to an SMU bowl game. While none of their games will be a cake walk, it seems likely they could win 2 of the last 4. If UCF loses, they would need an upset at Texas or Houston to get 7 wins.

(Of course, if SMU can run the table, a UCF upset at Houston would be perfect!)

Marshall's passing is not looking to good. They do seem to have a good running game.

Amazing how different a game looks on ESPN HD compared to Channel 33.

I like a good defensive battle, but this is not a defensive battle.

SMU can beat these guys

Agreed. Haven't been impressed by either of the two teams.
