and we worry about the prospects of Baylor’s being left stranded as the conference falls to pieces amid a lack of leadership statewide.

But we’re also greatly troubled about the impact of all this on our entire state. That means everything from its economy to such cherished intangibles as tradition.

My I wonder where Baylor's "such cherished intangibles as tradition" were when the SWC crumbled leaving SMU, TCU, Rice, and UH "being left stranded as the conference falls to pieces amid a lack of leadership statewide."

I understand Baylor's concerns, but this piece is pretty melodramatic. I hardly think conference realignment will wreak havoc on the Texas economy and way of life as this writer states. After all, we've seen it happen here before and the world did not end (even for schools that were left out of the Big-12). I also take issue with the mindset of some in our state who view college football conference affiliation as a major policy issue that needs to be first and foremost in the legislature and governor's office. Frankly, I find Governor Perry's statements to be refreshing. Our state leaders have enough real issues to deal with. I don't see why the budget, border security, etc. should take a back seat to whether Baylor plays in this or that conference.

Dear Baylor:

Welcome to our world.

Quit your whining. The steak you've been eating for 14 years is gone. It's time to take the first bite of that [deleted] sandwich that's been served up to you. Might as well get used to it.

Poor Baylor, TCU wants to blackball them from MWC too. See, the TCU folks don't just hate on SMU in these things.

OK, then let's hope A&M goes along with the PAC exodus, the MWC adds Kansas and Missou and CUSA can pick up KSU and Baylor to go to 14 members. Baylor and KSU join the west and Tulane moves to the east.

Iowa State is lost in all this discussion, but they can become the 14th member of the MAC.

Baylor got "left behind".

They can whine or they can respond like TCU. Baylor had 15 years to get their crap straight. This is where Stallion's urgency makes real sense.

I do enjoy the fact that TCU has positioned themselves after all these years to "return the favor" to Baylor...but I would welcome Baylor to CUSA. One more former SWC mate to play every year.

I have no desire to have anything to do with Baylor. Sunbelt would be too good for them.

SMU should lobby against/blackball Baylor to CUSA the way TCU is w/ the MWC if it comes to that. Now that would be some funny shxt.

Baylor to the WAC!

with SMU lucky enough to get 18,000 a game that just stupid. Let's talk reality-because that's what our AD and President will do. Baylor brought about 6,000 the last time they played in Ford. SMU is running a huge debt because we don't play anybody our alumni care about. They have a very large alumni base in Dallas and Houston and travel well since are less than 2 hours from Houston and Dallas. Keep the silly bitterness out of it-it a no brainer. Can we please play someone we care about beating. Beating a rival on the field is the only revenge worthwhile.

I don't think anyone said not to play Baylor. Baylor's welcome to play SMU at any time, as we continue our goal of being Top 25 in everything we do.

Help facilitate that goal by contributing at ponyupTop25.paypal.com.

Anyway, talking reality should start with the President, AD, and football coach on the same page. Get those damn tutors or whatever it is already.
