Re: DMN Large ArticleI'm impressed if the freshman are taking a jump off the 10 meter platform at the A.R. Barr Pool.
![]() Great article. Pony Up
Re: DMN Large ArticleWhere are the photos and video of the team jumping in the pool.
Re: DMN Large Articlei'll be much happier when he signs the extension
Re: DMN Large ArticleIf you are in the DFW area, great day to pick up a paper. SMU dominates the front of the sportspage with a large color picture and the start of the article, then inside another full page of color pictures and stories.
Probaly won't happen...BUT...maybe it will!!
Re: DMN Large Articlea little disappointed in season ticket sales increase to only 7,500. I mean I understand why some might not decide to fork over $500-1,000 for the best seating but one would hope for a significant season ticket increase to at least the level we had when Ford opened. 40% of TCU's season tickets-come on we should be doing better than that after a bowl season

Re: DMN Large ArticleSeems to me the bandwagon hasn't fully taken off yet. I like the emphasis by the team that we haven't done anything yet. Sets them up for long haul improvements. With those you'll see interest continue to increase.
I'm about ready to fire up the grill!
Re: DMN Large Article
that's the first thing that jumped out at me as well. I guess it's an improvement over the 4000 or 4500 or whatever it was in PB's last year, but 7500 season tickets, with most people buying 2 or more, means we probably have 3000 season ticket holders. What we're going to need are a whole bunch of supporters that are akin to...Notre Dame's "subway alumni"essentially bandwagon jumpers who support the team and come to the game but who dont have one of these handy "President's Associates" calendars on their desk..non-donors, non-affiliated previously...call them "DART alumni" I guess..to buy into things. I'm sure TCU has plenty of these types.
Re: DMN Large ArticleI don't think that is ever going to happen. What we need is for SMU people to give a [deleted] about their own school again. Not just alumni but people with a definite SMU connection. We all know that there are a helluva a lot more than 3,000-4,000 SMU alumni (which is probably an accurate way of describing season ticketholders) hanging out on the Boulevard at big games. Don't think this won't go in the Prospects Envelope for Conference Expansion. The little commuter school to the South is kicking our Butt.

Re: DMN Large ArticleHouston is 42-24 in its last five years. We are 21-39. We won five of our last six. Give it a little more time than that!
Re: DMN Large Article
We have a lost generation. Students who went through school without a strong football team are simply not going to care as much about football as students in the Pony Express generation do. Our administration's lack of willingness to compete has cost us dearly.
Re: DMN Large Articlejust pointing out there might not be more time. A decision that could affect this program for decades may be made next week. I wonder if the lost generation also includes those in my generation who saw great football but can't relate the lower level of competition today. Very few 1970-1980s alumni attend games either. How might they react if SMU gets stuck in a Sun Belt or Magnolia Level Conference

Re: DMN Large ArticleSpeaking as an alum from the lost generation, I've had four season tickets since the year I graduated. There were many games where I would walk in the stadium with 2 or 3 of them in my pocket because I couldn't give them away to people that would show up every week to our tailgate spot but would not want to attend the game (in fact they would laugh at me when I offered the tickets, always gratis). And these are good tickets on the 45.
Last year I never walked in with extra tickets, I could always find someone at the tailgate who was interested. This year the tickets for every game are spoken for in advance. I assume the lost generation hasn't seen the need to buy season tickets in the past because "free" tickets were always plentiful, and they saw no reason to attend the games anyway. My hunch (assuming we don't revert back to 1-11) is that we will see a healthier walk-up crowd than in years past. I also think we will see more season ticket holders from the, casual lost generation fan, as they experience the "free" ticket shortage problem this season. I've got a couple of friends who are first time season ticket holders because of the scarcity they experienced last year, and due to the fact they hated buying walk-up tickets. #NewLobCity
Re: DMN Large Articlemy boss is an Aggie and said he'd go to the Mustang lunch and a game or two.
Re: DMN Large ArticleNice to See Kate predict us at 8-4 in the DMN SMU preview.
She has us losing to TT, TCU, Houston, and Navy. Probaly won't happen...BUT...maybe it will!!
