Nebraska Coach Bo Pelini is an.....

Postby Big Hoss » Sun Nov 21, 2010 9:30 am

@ss. He was coming unglued, yelling at refs constantly, getting up in their faces, almost coming in contact with them several times. Sure, there were a couple questionable/borderline calls, but his team was playing very undisciplined. It's his own fault if they plan that badly, not the refs. They finally called him for an unsportsmanlike penalty, which put his team in a tough spot (although they responded well being backed up to their own 5).

At one point, he also was screaming at his QB, Martinez, and poking him in the chest. Can't remember exactly what happened to cause him to do that.

I am all for fiery coaches, but he is just over-the-top. JJ is the exact opposite, being overly subdued, but I'll take that vs. Pelini's approach any day.

Nebraska did get shafted by the refs in some key situations, but I agree acting like Bo did is going to get you no where. Losing your composure like that only sends the wrong message to your team and puts the refs against you.

Kyle Field is a scary place to play, has the "military state" feel to it. They get some home cooking from the refs every now and then and the head coach has to handle it better, keep the team together.
Probaly won't happen...BUT...maybe it will!!

Just a "little" home cooking?!!

I am no Aggie fan, but 16 penalties to 2. Wow.

The roughing the passer call on the aggies game winning drive was a joke. The ref had to put his bayonet away before he yanked the flag.

Agree though that Pelini was over the top.

I so feel for Bo. Why no other team ever has had questionable officiating. I beat JJ would act just like Bo if the same thing happen in a SMU game.

As it is, it is so unfair to poor Nebraska to have that kind of officiating when playing on the road.

Bo Pelini is the type of person I would feel the need to "pat down" if I were a TSA agent.

Agree,he was out of control and the team picked up on it. I might have felt the same way in light of their game against UT last year and the fact that Nebraska is a Big 12 lame duck- probably feels the close ones will never go his way until they get out of that conference.

let's hope we don't have a UTEP-like experience when we're at Kyle Field next year.

With aTm finishing like they are, they'll have higher expectations, a full house, probably a pre-season ranking and looking to make a statement.

Hopefully they will turn on the air conditioner.

No kidding. I have three memories from the last SMU game I attended at Kyle Field:

1. Bobby Chase catching a long TD pass, leading us to believe we had a chance early in the game
2. How even the aggie band, in their all-khaki uniforms, had sweated through them as of 10am, and it was just as oppressively hot for the rest of us, and
3. That damn cannon still blasting long after I'd begun my walk back to my car

It would be absolutely incredible to take down the Aggies to start off the 2011 season.

Not thinking about that right now, though - beat ECU!

Was that Bobby Chase? For some reason I was thinking it was our tight end (whose name escapes me at the moment).

And yes, it was hotter than he!! there.

I dont think it was Ryan Kennedy (or Vincent Chase), our TEs. I could be wrong.

edit: from the Aggie website:
SMU's only touchdown came at the end of the first quarter when Jerad Romo found Bobby Chase down the sideline for a 67-yard score on third-and-19. The extra point failed, and the Aggies maintained their lead.

Getting back to the topic at hand, Bo Pelini is an embarrassment to Nebraska. NU prides itself on having some of the classiest fans in college football, and yet they hire a guy who acts like a clown the entire game, yelling at the refs, chasing people down after the final whistle, etc.

Don't like that coach either. Wish that Plano Wildcat Rex Burkhead would have come to another U.
