Bowl payoutshttp://www.collegefootballpoll.com/bowl ... edule.html
Wow, the major bowls paying $17 million. That is 22.6 times more than the Armed Forces Bowl. TCU @ Rose Bowl is a huge payout. Puts in better perspective why TCU joined the Big East. Connecticut (Big East Champion) in a $17 bowl and even Big East #2 in a $2.1 bowl.
Re: Bowl payoutsUm, yeah. Been like that since the BCS cartel was started. The "haves" get huge payouts to distribute amongst themselves and the "havenots" get piddle.
Don't worry. Be Happy. Or not.
Re: Bowl payoutsOf course the $17 Million gets divided among all the other members of the conference. So, its really a little less than $1 Million per school.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna
Re: Bowl payoutsTCU gets a bigger share
Re: Bowl payoutsDoes the $750K that the AFB bowl pays out get divided equally amoungs the 12 schools in CUSA or does SMU get a bigger share than just the $62,500 split 12 ways? Didn't the Hawaii Bowl only have a payout of around $400K last year?
Peruna is my mascot!
Re: Bowl payoutsSo, the missed field goal by Boise State will end up "costing" Boise/WAC around $16 million.

Re: Bowl payoutsand those Big East schools are not deserving because of the product on the filed...but because of the number of viewers they attract.
if/when we have the same quality of team that TCU has this year, we may find ourselves (all 10,000 of us) bitterly disappointed when we are relegated to some minimum payout bowl game.
Re: Bowl payoutsDoes SMU get a % of ticket sales for this one?
Surely, Ford Stadium gets some sort of cut?
Re: Bowl payoutsNo I'm sure its just a payment for leasing the stadium.

Re: Bowl payoutsAll the more reason for a playoff.
Re: Bowl payouts
But does any of that payoff actually go to the non-footballs schools? That seems strange if Marquette, for example, got BCS money from the conference when they don't field a football team.
Re: Bowl payouts
so you could also say that Nevada gave up about $1 million for that win...i guess it was worth it. "There ain't nothing you can't solve with one more beer"
Re: Bowl payoutsIt was appears that the move by the conference to send UTEP to the New Mexico Bowl ($750,000 payout) and to leave the New Orleans Bowl ($325,000 payout) to select an at-large team was a good one. It doubled the bowl revenue and likely decreased the travel costs for UTEP.
Re: Bowl payouts
Easier for UTEP fans to get there vs. New Orleans, too. Maybe not as fun a city, but likely improves the chances of a bigger fan turnout.
Re: Bowl payouts
Yeah, got them all the way to the..."Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl!!!" to play a 7-5 BC team. Man, I wouldn't even put that in the history books if they win it. Who the hell allowed such a terrible name? "Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome your 2010 Kraft Fight Hunger Victors!"
