JOEY FONTANA: Third time's the charm?

Postby PonyPride » Mon Jan 17, 2011 9:25 pm

Recovery from injuries can be a lengthy process, but few have endured the recovery process SMU offensive lineman Joey Fontana has endured since ripping up his knee in December 2009. Fontana will undergo his third operation next week in an effort to improve the use of his foot and leg, and possibly allow him to return to the field.

Enjoy!

Joey we are all pulling for you. Your determination to put on the SMU uniform again is an inspiration to us all. No matter what happens, it is clear to see that Joey Fontana is a winner beyond the football field.

I have had the good fortune of getting to know Joey, and he always has a smile on his face, very respectful, friendly, encourages his teammates, works his tail off, and is always trying to help recruit future Mustangs. This is the type of young man that makes you proud to support.

Ditto. That's the kind of interview you don't get anywhere else. Great story, webbies.
Good luck, Joey! Like Special_Delivery said, we're all pulling for you.

If everyone had Joey's attitude an desire, SMU would be undefeated.
All the best for a full recovery, Joey.

I was about to ask for a Fontana update again so this article is very welcome. I am sorry this third procedure has become advisable but wish Joey the success and good fortune his determination deserves.

I like his "can do" spirit. It will take him a long, long way down life's path to future success. We are all pulling for you Joey.
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.
